I am out of town through Sunday with my family, then back home for 2 days, and then out of town again for 5 days for my sister’s wedding. So I will be busy and away from my computer a lot to say the least. I will have it with me, and I will try to post a few tutorials or share photos when I have time.
I would love if each of my readers could take the time to comment here on what you want to see from MCP in 2009.
– Ideas for tips and tutorials on Photoshop, Lightroom and on Photography
– Ideas for what types of new actions you would like created
– Ideas on contests, prizes, etc – if you have a product and want to do a promo/give away, feel free to let me know that as well
– Anything else you would like to see from me this coming up year.
At this point, I have not decided if this post will include a drawing/contest. But if I get enough great ideas, I may just have to pick a name to win something…
Thank you so much. Here are a few quick highlights of my twins from 2008.
Thank you for reading my blog.
Jodi

I only have pse, would you do any tutorials specific just to elements?
I love your stuff so I am sure I would like anything you come up with. Here are a few ideas from me though:I just got Lightroom so I would love to see tutorials on workflow within LR. More PS tutorials would be great too along with the classes like you offered this past year. I missed the one on curves but would love to be able to get a transcript or watch a recorded version of it. How to recognize color casts and steps to take to get rid of them. I have the Magic Skin set with the skin cast blast but find that when I correct what I first see I often end up with another problem. I guess I need more work on how the colors all work together.Last but not least, getting nice skin tones is something else I am trying to learn. Sometimes I need to fix skin tones and I just can’t tell when I have it right.Just a few ideas. Can’t wait to see what MCP has to offer in 2009! Enjoy the time with your family!
Oh, I second the suggestion on skin tones. It takes me a zillion tries to get it right – though sometimes I never do. Too much red is always a problem, even when I use the Magic Skin actions.
I really enjoy your tutorials and your interviews with other photographers. I second the revisit to curves. How about a B & W pp tutorial/class? I know there are several different methods (lab, gradient map etc..).Hope you and your family have a happy 2009!
Skin tone, skin tone!! I have the hardest time deciding when to add more or take away. There has to be a better way. I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS!! Thanks. I send the revisit to “curves”.
Love all your actions, would love to learn more on skin tones and sharpening pictures. And this may seem strange, but I am interested in learning about all the tags you have at the bottom of your blog posts. (i.e. geotag, delicious, newsvine, etc)do they help you drive traffic? why do you use them? thanks, I have learned so much from your blog!
I would love to see some sloppy border actions. I love your actions and they are part of my workflow. I couldn’t do it without you, girl. 😉 Thank you!
Tutorials for sure……creative editing of photos. And creative shooting would be great! Also, I also want to know more about skin tones. That is one of your actions I plan on getting, and would love to know how to use them properly. Thanks, and keep up the great work.
I’m going to second and third skin tones, color correction and sharpening. I’d love to actually see step by step how you make your pics look great. Thanks, I’m a big fan…Susan
Hi! I love this blog! I am relatively new to photography and have been using Elements. I received CS4 for Christmas! Yeah! (Thanks to your link for the $299 upgrade). First of all, I have two brown eyes babies. How do you get your kiddos’ eyes to sparkle? Any special tips? It seems much easier on blue eyed kids…I would love to learn more photoshop tips. What do you do to your photos before you use your actions? I plan to buy some actions when I get a new laptop to put all of of photography files on. Also, what kind of computer equipment do you use/external hard drive/etc…a tutorial on all of that stuff for beginners would be great as well! Thanks for giving your knowledge so willingly! Happy New Year!
Yep, definately skintones. I use the Skin Blast, too, and use the sliders to try to get it right but ugh! it’s tough!! Also, if you could do the Magic Template Actions for CS users, that would be awesome!! I would have bought them all already but I only have CS. 🙁 I love the series by Matthew Kees but would love something that is in video format so I can ‘see’ what is being done, if that makes sense. But really, anything you come up with is gonna rock, lady! Have a wonderful new year!
Thanks for an amazing 2008 Jodi! I’ve really enjoyed following your blog. I personally would like to see more tutorials on Lightroom 2.0 since I just received this for Christmas and am anxious to use it to it’s full potential. I also would like to see some presets for Lightroom.
I love love love your “watch me work” tutorials. Would be great to see more.
thanks for opening the suggestion box. how about a workflow discussion, including batch processing? anything that cuts down on pp time would be greatly appreciated!
I would love to see some lightroom tutorials, and workflow, specifically one which would contain the best way to sharpen and size for web thru lightroom, and if you export it to a file on your desktop, and how to also get a duplicate version without the extra sharpening. So I guess this would also be organization. Thanks for your great tips/tuts!
I agree with what as been mentioned! Skin tone and color cast would be super! Also, workflow, batch processing and lightroom would be so helpful! Thanks! Your help and advice is awesome!
A beautiful family living a full and happy life! Thanks so much for sharing!
I loved the curves workshop this fall. I know its already been mentioned. But after having some time to play with my photos over the weekend, I’d love some direction on dark brown eyes. Whenever I adjust them, it just doesn’t seem true to real life. Its just not the same as adjusting baby blues.I’d also love some direction on file storage and organization. And last but not least maybe creatively cropping a photo.
If you are utilizing the new adjustment and masking panes for editing in cs4, I would like to get feedback on how you are using them.
I would love to see some Lens Blur actions!
I will chime in….I took a lesson from Jodi this past year on skin tones and it was great!! Her knowledge is fantastic. I would still love to see another tutorial. I still find good skin tones a challenge. 1. A lesson on Color/WB correction would be nice. Many times WB can effect skin tones and over all tone. Auto WB does a good job but adjusting in PS and Lightroom always a challenge esp using curves/levels. I know my way around photoshop well but still have trouble with getting the color on the money.2. Lesson on sharpening photo’s. Sharpening to obtain that crisp pop seen in prints and web. Sometimes it can be overdone. I have the eye action but sometimes my eyes just look too fake people tell me.3. Cropping skills in Photoshop. I love love love lightroom for cropping!! Many will gasp but I use lightroom for organization and cropping only. I would love a feature or know how to crop and turn photos like in lightroom better. When adjusting angles in PS3 I always have white border.4. Vintage and washed out actions or tutorials would be great.5. Love to see an action that would apply a small black bar where I can place logos or web address beside or bottom of photos. Batch process would be nice. Make sense??6. Love to see some different Sepia type stuff. One of my fav websites for Sepia type photography is Sallee photography out of Dallas..There sepia is just fantastic…Love to get this one down.7. How to know when the photo is tooo bright or too dark. Even with Calibrated monitor tuff to get exact at times..is there a way to know??8. Would like to see some sports templates such as trading cards. Front and back would be nice
A beginners tutorial on the basics of photo editing. I am new at the whole photography thing and am trying to learn but I can’t seem to start at the beginning! Everyone seems so experienced and I feel overwhelmed at times! Thanks!
I am pretty new to the photog biz, so anything you can give would be great. I agree with the others on curves and skin tones. I also LOVE your “watch me work” tutorials. It’s amazing to see what you can do! Love your blog and your actions!
Thank you so much for asking our opinions! I’d love more “watch me works”,what’s in my camera bag (and why!), white balance, skin tones, work flow, color management, more actions, how to make a brush…hmmmmm…actually I learn from absolutely everything you post-even if I know the subject I always learn SOME tidbit!I’d also like to join in thanking you for your generosity, and wonderful blog and talent!
I second bECCA’s suggestion. I went through the Photoshop tutorial book a few years ago (and since forgot everything), but it didn’t really cover how to fix basic problems in a photo. I don’t even know the basics I should start out learning. I’d love to see something to help us newbies along the right path.
I don’t know if it’s that I’m still new to Photography and Photoshop, but I’d like to know if there’s a way to batch edit. Sometimes I just want them all to be B&W, but I still find myself doing them all one by one. Luckily, I still just do small shoots and not weddings. How do you save time?!! Is there a way?
I’ll second jodi and ask for tutorials on workflow/batch processing. PP takes too long sometimes. Also, something on dealing with flash and WB – in my newbie-ness to flash, I’m still messing this up. This might be a good photography and PP tutorial 🙂
I would like to see a web tutorial on your entire work flow…from the shots in the camera to the finished product…how you name your files, back them up, select keepers, batch process, to saving to web and what you would give to clients as they purchase photos.ThanksRose
I hope your vacation is wonderful! Have fun! I would like to know how you promote yourself to other people. Do you give out cards? Do you advertise?
Yes, more infor on skin tones. I took your class on color and I have Your Bag of Tricks. But still would love to see more tutorials on using the numbers and how you color correct. Also more on Curves. Again took your class but would love to watch a video over and over again. These are complex subjects that need to be watched over and over again. Your tutorials are wonderful. Would love if you could post some of the best parts of your classes. So please more on skin tone using the eye dropper tool, info window and see saw, plus more on curves.Have a wonderful time.
Amazing… amazing… amazing…. Keep up the work.
