I am using the term “favorite” loosely when I call these chipmunks my “new favorite subjects to photograph.”
My family and friends may think I have lost my mind, but last week on vacation I fell in love with these cute chipmunks that lived right outside the condo we rented in Charlevoix, Michigan. I could not stop photographing them.
I think I did 3 sessions with them – all using my Canon 5D MKII and my Canon 135L lens. Unfortunately chipmunks do not pay well for their portrait session. But I did have an amazing time trying to catch shots of them. And my twins had a blast watching me too. So in the end, this FREE photo shoot was worth it. I just had to share a few…
These were just opened in Photoshop and run through MCP Color Burst from the Complete Workflow Action Set and all are cropped versions of the photos as I was much further away than I appear from these shots in the “Blog It Board.”

They are so cute!
Ugh – 135L – soooo Jealous!
I love chipmunks, too. Glad to see we have that in common! These photos are wonderful.
How adorable! Wildlife and nature photography is my favorite. These made me smile this morning!
Jodi….you are tooo funny! I LOVE this. TOO CUTE! Now, that is what it’s all about!! Having fun 🙂 Thanks for making me smile today!
So cute!
I love those guys! Your pictures are beautiful! We have two chips that live somewhere in our backyard but we can’t get close to them. I called my 14 year old daughter over to see your pictures and she wants to know how you got so close to them because she has tried with ours and they run away.
Well I cropped in for this collage. The pictures were much more distant in real life. What lens are you using to try and get them. A 200mm would even have been better – but U had the 135L on at the time. As long as I nailed my focus – I could crop way it. These are cropped to maybe 1/8 to 1/16 the info that was actually there.
Now that’s my kind of fun!! If you are like me, you feel as if you should be paying them for the great refreshing that you feel after that type of shooting! Great shots!
your funny Jodi! Sorry you didn’t get paid but those are some fabulous pictures!
These are great, and I love them as a collage like this. I can never get photos of animals. They always run away.
They are so cute and they really look like the posed for you even though we know they didn’t….thanks for sharing them!
great photo shoot…can you run the same actions in photoshop elements, or are you more limited?
Yes elements is more limiting and cannot run the actions that I did here. Did you see the upgrade offer I posted a few weeks ago – I cannot remember when it expires but Adobe had an offer for $299 to upgrade from elements to Photoshop CS4.
Oh my goshhh these are SO cute!! I love them 🙂 🙂 Keep it up!!
Thanks for telling us how you got those great pix of those darling chips. Unfortunately, I don’t understand a lot of it, LOL, because I don’t have a super camera, just a little Coolpix. I explained to my daughter that you probably had a super zoom lens but she insisted that I ask you… you know kids. One of these days, I’ll get a very cool camera and then I can learn! Thanks again!Di
They are just adorable and seem to really like you!
You guys look like you have SO much fun up in N. Michigan! 🙂 I tell you, we love it here!
Way too cute Jodi. It looks like one is actually posing for you
