What the … Duck

As you read this I am on a weekend vacation with my husband to celebrate our 12th anniversary.  We are on Mackinac Island (this was pre-written) – in a house with incredible views but NO TV, No Internet access, and NO cars on the entire island.  Yep – Me. I have made my husband promise that I can take my laptop to a restaurant with wireless so that I can check email once a day.  But still…

And since I don’t like to leave you with nothing entertaining, here is a What The Duck cartoon I thought you might like.

And for fun, and back to the whole “your camera takes nice picture thought process…” here is a shot my husband took of Jenna and me a few weeks ago. He used the Canon 5D MKII with the 35L lens at ISO 400, f 2.8 and 1/160.  If he sees this I hope he can laugh at being an example and that the 12th anniversary is not my last. And in his defense, once I explained that he needed to put the red dot on my eye he did get a slightly better shot.

aha! that’s awesome! oh, us poor photog moms never get a good pic of us do we?!and those who buy the same camera as us, then think they’re pros, makes me wanna cry :(not calling myself a pro or anything, just that i’m working hard everyday to get better and learning so much (thanks to you) and it’s disheartening when people with lotsa money think they can do the same thing as me…..oh well, enjoy your holidays! happy anniversary!

My husband does the same thing! I’ll be shooting in Manual or AV and he’ll get a hold of it to take a few pictures, he’ll accidentally switch it or something – and then they all come out blurry, over-exposed and just terrible!

Hi! I’m a big fan of you and your blog, follows it from over here in Sweden 🙂 As a dedicated amateur photographer and Photoshopper, trying to be more and more professional every day, I hate it when people say: What a beatiful picture, you must have a great camera… I love your example 🙂 Keep up the good work!

I didn’t make it to your example. I’m still crying over my jealousy that your at Mackinac. I miss the island! I went to MTU and spent many fun filled times camping over there – we were in college, couldn’t afford the fancy digs.Eat a whole bunch of fudge for me! And some Mackinac Island Fudge Ice Cream too! The cherry flavor was my favorite. Especially after a hard night of midnight hockey games. *sigh* Memories. : )
