Pull Out Detail In Your Images: A Photoshop Step By Step Tutorial

Some images have so much hidden detail in them just begging to be bought to life in a photo.  I find that materials like metal (cars), wood, cement, and more are filled with such natural texture. We have certain Lightroom Presets that can draw these details out in a click (such as Heavy Metal) in Enlighten. And we have Photoshop actions that can do this as well.  For the pinable tutorial below, we opted for actions.  I was helping a trainee with her image.  And below you can see we primarily used MCP Fusion and then one action from Bag of Tricks on the sky.

Photoshop has layers and layer masks, which makes it easy to stack many adjustments and apply them just where you want them.

Details are below. If you want to see more Blueprints like this, please let us know.  And help spread the word by pinning and sharing it.  Thanks!

I am attaching the after image a bit larger so that you can see it in more detail. You can see the car takes on an almost 3D look, and the sky is rich and vibrant.
