An extremely exciting moment – almost 7 years in the making…

As a parent, I loved to watch my children achieve milestones.  It warms me inside and makes me smile.  Everything from my twins’ first smiles and laughs, to first words and steps.  As they got older, it was the first words they wrote and read.

And today I got to experience that same excitement when I heard screaming from the other room.  I thought Ellie hurt herself, until I realized it was screams of joy.  She ran to me screaming, “mommy, mommy, I just lost my 1st tooth.”  It was so exciting for all of us.  Even her twin sister Jenna is exciting.  Somewhere along the line she was told that each of them gets money when one twin loses a tooth.  This could get expensive…

So she wrote a note to the tooth fairy, I snapped a few photos as momentos, and we celebrated. We put this tiny little tooth in a tooth fairy pillow, made by their great great (yep – 2 greats) grandmother before she passed away before her 104th birthday.  Next to the pillow, we laid tooth fairy boxes that my in laws got them so there is a place to “leave the money.”  She said for her first tooth, “I need to use the pillow Grandma Tillie made me.”

I know Grandma Tillie would be proud.  Thank you for sharing this exciting moment with me.  And expect a similar post when Jenna loses her 1st tooth someday.
