As you may know if you read my blog, my twins LOVE American Girl. Most of their holiday gifts and birthday gifts were American Girl a few weeks ago.
When we were in Atlanta last weekend for my sister’s wedding, we had the opportunity to go to the Bistro and Store. My now Brother-in-Law’s Mom and Step Mom invited us to go with all of their granddaughters. And it was an amazing, fun experience. The girls and I were overwelmed but had a blast. Jenna got a new doll (Kit) with her gift certificates she had been collecting. And her old doll (Katie) got her ears pierced. Ellie got a horse (foal) named Sparks Flying. And we are on the lookout for the newly retired/archived doll Samantha.
So here are the photos from American Girl. I will share the ones from getting ready for the wedding tomorrow so check back then.

Ok I’m feeling really old now. Samantha was my first American Girl doll. It must have been over 20 years ago. I think I got her for my 8th birthday. And now your telling me she’s being retired. I still have my dolls (Samantha, Felicity, & Addy). I just keep hoping for a little girl of my own. Otherwise my nieces are going to be spoiled. I’m going to have to take them to American Girl store just because I’ve always wanted to go.
How fun! I can’t wait until Kate is ready for all this fun!
How fun! My daughter loves American Girl too. If we are even in that area I’ll have to take her there.
Ya know, I’m a dad with two very energetic sons who make life so much more worth living. Pink and fluffy aside, this is the most endearing thing I’ve seen all day. My poor wife – Even the dog is a guy kind of guy (Fine, throw the stick if you must but I’m not picking up anything until you tell me how good I am). We would never be caught dead in a doll shop but the spirit of the day you’ve shared here is what makes my world go around. Thanks for including me in the fun.
If you like American Girl, you and your girls have to see the new movie, “An American Girl – Chrissa Stands Strong”. It’s on HBO this coming Saturday and available for purchase. I am slightly biased, since my niece, Sammi Hanratty, stars as Chrissa, and does an outstanding job. The movie deals with the issue of bullying at school.
Jack – she is your niece? For real? My girls may seriously freak out! LOL.I am actually debating having them watch. They just turned 7 and are in 1st grade. They are begging me and I recorded it as it was on Monday here. I am just not sure if the topic is too intense for 1st graders. Hmmm. How old is your niece? Is she a major actress? Or did she get discovered for this part specifically?Jodi
Jodi, Sammi was 13 last Sept, but she has always been tiny, so she passes for much younger. In the movie, she plays a 4th grader. She’s been acting since she was 6 and has been in a bunch of commercials as well as TV shows and several movies. Her IMDB page is: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1767820/ and there are several fan pages for her, such as: http://www.sammi-hanratty.com/ Sammi and her mom (my sister) are currently in New York for a promotional trip.As for your girls watching the movie, that’s a tough call. I watched it last night and thought it was terrific. However, unless your girls have been exposed to bullying, you might want to hold off for a while – try to preserve their innocence as long as possible.
Great pictures Jodi – it looks like so much fun. My daughter is the same age as your girls and she just got Samantha for Christmas. I have not yet taken her to the NY store but hopefully will be going in the spring.
Oh wow that looks like fun. My girls would love it!
Cool site, love the info.
