WIN AN SLR LENS: Brand New Tamron Lens – 18-270mm or 28-300mm

I am very excited to have my 1st BIG lens give away on the blog.  Tamron USA, Inc. is sponsoring the MCP contest for a brand new lens.  The WINNER chooses from the 18-270mm (for a crop sensor Nikon or Canon) or the 28-300mm (for a full frame Nikon or Canon).

This would be an amazing lens to have for travel when changing prime lenses is inconvenient.  I can just picture this lens on a trip to Disney World.

To enter, you will need to do the following:

– Post to your blog, twitter and/or facebook about this contest (let people know how to enter and provide a link)

– Come back here and leave a comment writing where you posted (with link so that it can be verified if your post is picked from the random drawing)

– In your comment, please write why you want to win this lens, where you would want to most the lens, and for fun tell us how many lenses you currently own.

To qualify, you must:

– Have a US mailing address that the lens can ship to – this can be yours or a friend or relative but make sure you have one prior to entering (Tamron USA is only authorized to sell and distribute in the US)

– Have a Camera that works with Tamron Lenses.  If you do not have a Nikon or Canon SLR, a similar range lens for Pentax or Sony will be substituted.

– Do all the above items explained in the “enter section.”

– Please do not add comments more than once.  I approve all comments to limit spam (unless have commented and been approved on another post in recent days).  I will approve posts at least once every 12 hours – if not sooner.  So be patient and check back.  If you see your comment is on many times, email me and let me know what name was used and what post numbers, so I can delete the duplicates in fairness to all.

Contest ends Sunday evening – winner to be drawn at random – and announced via twitter and facebook.  If you are not a member of my FAN PAGE join here.

I tweeted! ( I would love either of these for the beach or park…anywhere I can let kids run free and still get some great lifestyle shots!

I currently have 4 lenses (I am in desperate need of a zoom!)

The 28-300 would be best for my D700 for all day shooting without having to carry along all the other lenses and/or not having the time to change lenses. Good for events, weddings, and shooting my five fast moving young children. And the macro would be the added bonus 🙂 There are not as many lenses available for full frame Nikon. Currently I have the Tamron 28-75, Nikkor 50 1.8, Nikkor 50 1.4, Nikkor 80-200VR, Nikkor 80-200, Nikkor 18-70.

Excellent givaway! I have recently graduated from a point and shoot to my very first Canon DSLR. I still only have the kit lens, but I recently purchased a 50mm 1.8 lens. That’s all I have so far in my arsenal. I would love one of these lenses!!!!! I’m going to be crossing my fingers all day!

Here is where I’ve posted the contest:

posted on FB as well –

I have a Nikon 70 – 300 but I would LOVE the 18 – 270 so I could change things up a bit and get a bit closer to my subjects!
I mainly take shots out doors, cause I love natural lighting!

    Here’s wishing!

RT on my twitter & FB pages!

This sounds like an all around, fabulous lens w/ a lot of range options.. For those of us who do not own twin SLR bodies, it would be wonderful to shoot continuously (especially weddings) w/out having to constantly switch lenses on the the body, and risk missing shots. I would LOVE the chance to use this lens, and hopefully get even MORE great shots w/ the flexibility it would allow =)

I am so excited about this giveaway!! I really need a new lens. I used to shoot film all the time and just recently bought my first digital SLR. I had a Nikon and switched to Canon when I went digital. At first I felt like a trader but I love both of my cameras. I still pull out the old school film camera every once in a while.

Wow, I would love one of these lenses. I’m just a wannabe photographer, but would love a new lens to play with on my Nikon SLR. I currently have two lenses.

Oh my what a giveaway!!! I posted on Facebook
I would love a new lens. This summer I am babysitting 6 kids, and never have time to change our lens. This would be so cool. Thanks for the chance!

    Posted on my FB!
I’ve heard great reviews about these 2 specific lenses, but 28-300mm should be my choice 🙂 specially when shooting events, so I don’t have to be changing cameras/lenses.
    I have Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G, Nikon 50mm f/1.8D & Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G, yes! I’m a Nikon girl 🙂
I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed.
    Thx for the opportunity!
    Best wishes, Rosie

I would love this lens because I have a small camera bag and I just can’t take my wide angle with me all the time. I would use it on my kids (of course!). I have my Canon kit lens (18-55mm, I think), a 55-250mm zoom, and my 50 mm 1.8.

I really need a lens like this! I have the subpar kit lens with my Canon Rebel and it has to be one of the worst lenses I’ve used. I had previously purchased a Sigma 18-200 and it was slightly better, but I really need a better lens for general photography. I have a couple prime lenses like the 50mm 1.8 and the 100mm f2, but for taking pictures of my 4 kids I really need something with the kind of range this Tamron will provide. Money is tight and winning one will probably be the only way I get one 🙂

I’ve retweeted this from the tweet that I followed to get here. Do we also have to blog about it too?

I’d look at the 18-270mm if its for a cropped sensor! I have yet to use Tamron products!

    Currently I have a 18-55mm, 75-300mm, and the 70-200mm.

You are so fun Jodi!!! 🙂 I posted on FB…

I would love the lens just for the fact I need to be able to get more candid shots with being further away…… I am always in the clients face!! 🙂

I currently own the 24-70L, 35mm 1.2, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 100mm Macro and looking to add the large zoom and fisheye soon!!!

    YAY!! Thanks Jodi!!

    Here is my post!
I really would love to win this contest. I have been “in business” for only two years now and it’s been good. Along with bein a photographer, I also work full time and have a soon to be 18 year old son that is very active in travel soccer (of course I manage that too).

I have 3 lenes already, but basically use my Tamron 28-75 and in February I had saved up enough money to buy the 70-200 Canon lens but for some reason, I just never did it.

Well lucky I didn’t. In March, my 42 year old husband suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and almost died. After an operation, 20 days in ICU and 3 months off to work, Terry is back to work. We are soo grateful. With that being said, lucky I didn’t buy that lens. Even though we have insurance the 20% co-pays have drained my account. I am so grateful that money was there.

There are soo many tragic stories out there and mine will surely pale in comparison. I am grateful that we came out victorious. Unfortunately others don’t have my happy ending.

    Thanks so much!!

why you want to win this lens
Because it’s a cool lens and I don’t currently have something in this range

where you would want to most the lens
I would want to use it mostly in the every day category. I shoot someting almost daily.

and for fun tell us how many lenses you currently own
    Digital 4
    Old school 6-8

I would love to have this lens because I am constantly changing out from my wide angle kit lens to my zoom lens. Having this lens would allow me to keep from changing so much. I don’t own a vibration control lens either and that would be pretty cool to have in a lens. I currently own the 18-55 Kit lens, a 50mm prime lens and a Tamron 70-300 zoom..

A lens like the Tamron 18-270mm would make for a great everyday lens.

  18. July 8, 2009 at 9:10 am —

Posted on twitter! I am @mmoring if you want to check it out!

I would love either of these lenses, but if I only had to choose one I think I’d go for the 28-300mm. I already have 55-200, so think that going up to 300mm with a wider angle on the bottom end would be nice. I would love this lens for our next family vacation!

I own 3 lenses (one prime and two zooms).

  19. July 8, 2009 at 9:08 am —

I would use this lens for everything. I’m an amateur photographer that is working on getting better and maybe one day leaving the job that I went to school for something that I have a love and passion for… I have a 50mm 1.4G and 35mm 1.8G. I’ve got the kit lens that came with a D40 and just recently upgraded to a D90.

    Oh let me win!!!

    Twittering to at today!

  20. July 8, 2009 at 9:07 am —

Oh how I would love this lens! I have one lens at the moment (35mm L) and would love a zoom. Especially for working with kids. I have found that zoom lens work great with kids on the go. That and vacations. Especially Disney! I would love to have one good lens.

Thanks for doing this Jodi! What fun!
