He Said, She Said: Win a Spot in this Photography Workshop {$1,350 Value}

He Said, She Said: Win a Spot in this Photography Workshop {$1,350 Value}

Yesterday, you got to read all about Jean and Travis.  They answered questions about how they got started and even shared a few photography tips!

Now you have a chance to attend their He Said She Said Photography Workshop for FREE.  They will be covering everything from pre-production (location, style and creativity, etc), to production (posing and working with your subject, lighting with off camera flash, etc), and finally, to post production (workflow, post processing, and everything business).   They say “where one is weaker, the other is strong, and together, we offer a complete package with tons-o-knowledge.”

What does this mean?  What is included?  When is it?

  • The workshop will take place on September 17th, 2011, with an optional lighting day on September 16th, 2011 in Detroit, Michigan.
  • The winner will receive a free seat at the workshop on both days ($1350 value)!
  • The winner will ALSO receive a one-on-one (well one-on-two) breakfast or lunch the following day with Travis and Jean to ask questions, get a portfolio review, etc!!!

Who can win?

  • Any photographer who wants to learn from Jean and Travis!

What is not included?

  • You will need to cover transportation, such as airfare, and lodging, food, spending money, etc…  But it will be SO worth it!

What if I win but cannot attend? What if I am not sure about the dates or if I can get to Detroit, etc? Can I still enter?

  • If you win, you have four options: (1) attend, learn a lot and have a blast, (2) transfer workshop to a friend – this does not mean sell it and it cannot be given away on your blog, (3) let us know and we can draw another winner, (4) use it on a future He Said, She Said Workshop within one year (but keep in mind, no future dates are currently set and there are no guarantees these will work for you)

    don’t have a website, but have LOVED Jean and Travis and been their biggest fan. Have actually signed up for the class (waiting to hear) but would LOVE to win it as I’ve been saving for a year for it :-). I believe that the beautiful lighting techniques will help me as I have just started to learn lighting in the last year. I’m SOOOOO excited and even if I don’t win…LOVE you guys and hope to see you in September!

    I don’t know if I learned this, but it’s so nice to see someone move from 100% corporate life to a totally creative field. It’s a change I dream of making, I just don’t have the guts (or the savings!) to make it happen right now. I affectionately call what I do now a “not-business” since it’s mostly favors for friends and family, but I think this workshop could give me the push I need to get to the next level.

    OOOOO I love Jean and Travis’ work and I would so love to go see them. 🙂 I really need some off camera flash work and they are the bomb! Love you guys!

    I attended Travis and Jean’s first-ever He Said/She Said workshop. I was very new to photography at the time, and feel like the amount of information that they passed out was just more than I could absorb. What I did manage to absorb has so radically improved my work that I would love to attend the next one. I love their work, their style, and could not ask for better people to learn from. I’m so excited for a chance to win a free spot!

    I knew right away what I found most helpful from yesterdays interview. I LOVED what they BOTH said their advice would be to a photographer starting out! SO TRUE!!! What Travis said hit home with me because I sometimes have a hard time saying no when I know I should!
    I’m really hoping to win the seat at the workshop for a couple of, ok a few, reasons. #1 Lighting scares me! ha! I’m a natural light photographer and although I love it, I know that I need to learn at least a little about lighting and I’m sure this would be a perfect way to get my feet wet! And you never know where learning something new might take you. #2. The only reason I haven’t already signed up for the workshop is because all my “extra” money is tied up in updating my branding and it won’t be as impactful if I don’t learn how to better promote myself. Something I would love to learn from Jean and Travis since they’ve done such a good job at it! #3. I’ve met Jean briefly at another workshop and she’s just the NICEST person! And I would love to meet Travis!
    Thanks MCP for this opportunity!

    Oh My goodness…this would be AWESOME! I loved reading through everything yesterday and the “knock my socks off” was the tiny little link to changing your 50mm into a MACRO LENS…INCREDIBLE!!!

  10. July 27, 2011 at 10:08 am —

    Fingers crossed that I’ll win! Been posted to my facebook page!

  11. July 27, 2011 at 10:09 am —

    i loved the instant macro idea!

  12. July 27, 2011 at 10:11 am —

    I would LOVE to attend this workshop. I’m at the beginning of my journey as a photographer, and I am ready to soak up as much knowledge as I can possibly get my hands on. 🙂 I loved the tip on yesterday’s blog about turning your prime lens backwards to use it as a macro lens! (And of course I already like MCP Actions on FB!)

    I have been a fan for a while! I would love to attend their workshop to learn to take my photography to the next level…oh and how to be totally fabulous. Jean- if I win I’ll bring my framed “e-mail art”…just sayin…hehe!

  17. July 27, 2011 at 10:12 am —

    I would love to win this! It would be great to see how they interact with their clients. And just basic things that they’ve learned from being in business to long!

  18. July 27, 2011 at 10:15 am —

    I have been fans of Jean and Travis for what seems like forever now. I learned from their interview that even though they have 2 different techniques about things that they still have the same common goal and that is to get the perfect composition. I would love to win a seat to their workshop!

  19. July 27, 2011 at 10:15 am —

    Jean Smith Photography and Boka Studios is my absolute favorite! They truly are an inspiration to me. I would love to attend their workshop. I love everything about them…their style, no-nonsense approach and their down to earth readings on their blog….they are just amazing!

  20. July 27, 2011 at 10:16 am —

    I appreciate the macro and flash tips from the interview! And the tip about letting your husband quit his corporate job to purse his passion! I so wish my hubby was into photography like I am, we’d make a great team.

    I think that this workshop would be so beneficial to my business by teaching me to go to places i’m not comfortable with–Flash!

    I’ve liked you on FB for a long time!
