Fujifilm released its SL1000 bridge camera that delivers the world’s first 50X optical zoom, or 1200mm equivalent, at CES2013. Taking it a step further, the Nippon producer made the lens capable of 1cm-close super-macro photography.

According to its press release, Fuji SL1000 was built to be hassle-free. The camera has a 16-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor that has a maximum ISO sensitivity of 12800 and is capable of shooting 10fps bursts at maximum resolution.

The lens is Fujinon-branded and delivers maximum apertures of f/2.8 at 24mm to f/6.5 at 1200mm with fast, 0.2 seconds autofocus. It also makes use of Optical Image Stabilization to counteract blurring when using longer zoom lengths.

Besides the impressive 50x optical zoom lens, the Fujifilm SL1000 incorporates Intelligent Digital Zoom, doubling the focal lengths to a staggering 2400mm (full-frame focal length equivalent). To spice things up, the camera also delivers super-macro capabilities. It can take super-close photographs from just 0.4 inches away.

Movie-wise, SL1000 is able to shoot full HD 1920 x 1080 videos at up to 60fps with stereo sound support by using the dedicated button, found on the back of the camera. Speaking about extremes, the video-record mode also got pimped as well: it delivers slow motion video capturing at flabbergasting speeds: 480fps (240 × 180 pixels), 240fps (320 × 240 pixels) or 120fps (640 × 480 pixels).

Fujifilm SL1000 incorporates a 3-inch, 920.000-dot tilting LCD screen, and an integrated Electronic Viewfinder with eye control that allows users to compose their images and videos with ease.

Fuji’s latest bridge shooter can be used by professional photographers as well as beginners

It shoots in RAW, JPEG and RAW+JPEG and offers multiple manual modes: Program, Shutter priority, Aperture Priority and Manual. The camera also packs features like: Individual Shutter 3D, HDR or motion panorama.

Your creativity levels can get even higher as the camera features multiple filters, such as Pop Color, Partial Color, Soft Focus, Miniature, Cross Screen, Toy Camera, and High Key. Such effects are popular among beginners, who enjoy playing with their photos.
