The new Canon Legria HF G25 continues the tradition of high-quality camcorders set in place by the Legria HF G10. According to the company, the new device features an enhanced wide-angle lens, improved manual controls, and an entirely new audio chipset that delivers excellent audio performance.

Premium image quality

Canon’s new Legria HF G25 features a CANON HD CMOS PRO sensor with 30.4mm wide-angle HD optical lens that records high-quality videos, enhanced performance in low-light conditions, wide dynamic range to capture more details in the scene, Intelligent IS technology to reduce blur, maximum f/1.8 aperture that provides colorful images even in shadowy setups, and an anti-reflective filter that reduces sun glare.

To capture even better videos, the Optical Image Stabilizer system can automatically toggle between the modes, Dynamic or Powered. Even if a videographer were to use the camera at 10x optical zoom, the technology would reduce blur at the maximum, therefore the videos would still look crystal clear.

Improved audio setup

Canon feels that superior image quality is useless without an equally impressive audio performance, hence the new system consists of an audio equalizer, internal microphone, and an intelligent Audio Scene Select tool. The latter can toggle between five modes, depending on situation. Sound settings will be adjusted for Music and Noise Reduction, among others.

Background noise is an issue which affects all videographers, but Canon’s solution consists of an internal microphone that cuts down low and mid interference, even if the users find themselves filming a live concert. The so-called Zoom Mic will automatically direct the microphone to the subjects facing the camcorder.

Even more features

A 3.5-inch LCD screen is available for Canon Legria HF G25 users along with face-only autofocus, priority white balance modes, backlight correction, and color viewfinder. The camera also supports up to two x 32GB SD cards, giving the users enough space to store their videos.

The camcorder will become available in February in select markets, with other areas receiving the Canon HF G25 in March. Pricing details will be revealed closer to its launch.
