Nikon dials back on its one-year-old decision to stop selling camera parts to customers and repair shops, by welcoming its new Nikon Parts Store.
It has been almost a year since Nikon published a press release stating that its camera parts would no longer be available to customers and repair shops. The motivation note explained that the technology is far too complex for independent repair shops, therefore the cameras need to be repaired only in authorized repair centers, where the employees have the required tools and experience to perform the repairs.
Nikon Parts Store
In the wake of the public outcry, Nikon has decided to launch an online parts store, simply called Nikon Parts Store. The online shop includes parts for DSLR cameras, CoolPix cameras, lenses, and speedlights.
Currently, there are not too many parts available at the store, but the company is expected to announce the availability of more pieces in the near future. The shop is available only for customers in the United States, and the company confirmed that the sales are final, meaning that it does not accept any returns or exchanges.
DSLR parts
The Nikon Parts Store features important pieces for DSLR cameras including D600, D700, D800, D4, D90, D3000, D3100, D3200, D5000, D5100, D300S, D2X, and D3X. In this area, potential customers can also find parts for the WT-4A wireless transmitter, ME-1 stereo microphone, and FM10 film camera.
CoolPix and Speedlight parts
In this segment of the store, users can find parts for the L510, L810, P7100, P7700, S3100, S4100, S6200, and S8200, while the Speedlight department includes pieces for the SB-800.
Lens parts
This area is more populated, as there are many Nikkor lenses available on the market and they get broken easier due to the users’ improper management of the lenses. Nikon lens owners can find replacement parts for all types of lenses including 40mm, 50mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 80-400mm, and 300mm.
Prices vary depending on what users need, and they do not include replacement operations, as it is up to the owners to repair their equipment.
