Adobe Photoshop, from the company’s CS6, is one of the most used software by Macintosh users. Adobe has released an update for Mac OS owners, along with the changelog which explains what is new in the software’s latest update.

Adobe Photoshop 13.0.4 CS6 for Macintosh changelog:

  • added support for Apple’s latest HiDPI displays;
  • enhanced image fidelity and resolution.

This is just a minor update which is destined to bring support for Apple’s HiDPI displays, including the one found in the latest 15-inch MacBook Pro, which features a screen with an amazing resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels.

Installation procedure

The software developer advises all users to directly apply the update by opening the application, then open the Help tab and click on Updates. Now, the program will search for any available updates and will prompt the users to install the minor update.

However, Adobe Photoshop 13 CS6 users can manually install the update. First, they need to download the update, then disable all antivirus programs. Double-click the newly-downloaded file and then follow the instructions on the display.

The latest Apple HiDPI displays are supported by a number of browsers including Safari and Google Chrome. HiDPI displays are found in the last-generation MacBook Pros – the 13-inch version having a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 and the 15-inch version boasting a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution. These displays are also known as Retina Displays.

Adobe Photoshop 13 has been released on May 7th, 2012 as a part of Adobe’s Creative Suite 6. It was codenamed Superstition and it packed a considerable amount of new features when compared to the previous generation. Among the most important features we found a new user interface, Adobe Camera RAW 7 support, redesigned properties panel, improved crop tool, and Blur Gallery.

The software is available on both Windows and Mac OS X computers.
