Cokin Pure Harmonie filters introduced as world’s thinnest

Cokin, a French-based optical filters manufacturer has introduced the world’s thinnest lens filters.

The French company is one of the most popular optical filter makers in the world thanks to its Creative Filter System. Today, the company introduced a new set of filters called Pure Harmonie. As a result, they have become the thinnest lens filters in the world and the Cokin Pure Harmonie filters are available for purchase right now.

Cokin Pure Harmonie UV filter

This is the thinnest filter of them all, as it measures only 3.3 millimeters / 0.13-inch. The Multi-Coated Anti-UV filter was designed to become the “contact lens for your lens” and to be “almost invisible” when mounted on a lens. It reduces haze and, at the same time, it protects lenses from scratches and dust.

The Pure Harmonie UV MC also cuts down fogginess and ensures “impressive transmittance,” says Cokin. Apparently, the filter is made of highly-resistant glass, but despite that, it does not add too much weight on a photographer’s camera gear. It is available starting at $50, and price goes up depending on lens size.

Cokin Pure Harmonie Circular Polarizer filter

This is the lightest and thinnest circular polarizing filter in the world, measuring a mere 4.5mm. Cokin claims that it is excellent at reducing reflections, including from non-metallic subjects like windows and water. The C PL filter will absorb reflected light and will deliver better cloud pictures, says the manufacturer.

Cokin added that the Circular Polarizer filter offers the best light transmission in its class as it cuts down reflections, while boosting colors. Furthermore, low-light photography is improved thanks to the 1 f-stop factor, while the filter can provide effects that cannot be found in post-processing software.

Cokin Pure Harmonie Variable Density Neutral Gray filter

Although it is the thickest accessory of the three, it is also the thinnest variable density neutral gray filter in the world. It measures only 9.5mm and it supports a f-stop range between 1 to 8+. F-stop can be set by rotating the filter’s front ring from ND2 up to ND400.

It is aimed at professional photographers who want to shoot motion blur photography. Shutter speed can be decreased, however, waterfall and cloud photography will still come out with motion blur effects. The ND filters will not interfere in any way with color rendition. The ND X filters are available in multiple sizes, the most expensive of them all costing up to $200.
