Sony is preparing to launch several products soon, including lenses and cameras, and some details about them have just been leaked on the web.
A few days ago, the first Sony NEX-3N photo emerged on the internet. Back then, a bunch of details about the camera were leaked, including the addition of an electronic zoom lever and the presence of a 16-megapixel image sensor, found in its predecessor, the NEX-F3.
New Sony cameras coming soon
The price of the NEX-3N mirrorless camera has just been revealed by an inside source, along with information about the launch of other cameras and a few lenses. The upcoming Sony NEX-3N camera will become available for a price “around $500”, says the source.
Additionally, the SLT-A58 will be released for a price around $600. We have heard this camera’s name before, when it was said that it would be released alongside the ALT-A38. Both will be APS-C shooters, with the A58 featuring a new 20-megapixel sensor.
What about the lenses?
Sony’s new lenses will also be announced “in a few days”. The list includes a Zeiss-made 50mm f/1.4 lens that will become available for $1,500.
The other two lenses consist of an 18-55mm zoom lens for A-mount shooters and a 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6 G II telephoto lens. The former will cost only $220, while the latter will be priced at $2,200.
The company discontinued the 70-400mm lens last year, therefore it needs to replace it soon, in order to attract new customers.
Announcement date speculation
Sony is holding a PlayStation event on February 20. The digital imaging-related equipment may be unveiled during the same event, especially the NEX-3N mirrorless camera. However, the rumor mill does not rule out an April announcement during the NAB Show, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
There is a small chance for Sony to hold a special event, which will be focused entirely on its cameras and lenses, but both the PlayStation event and the NAB Show will guarantee bigger exposure for the new gear.
The PS announcement is less than two weeks away, therefore everything will be cleared up soon.
