HTC used a Canon lens to tease the company’s phone, called One, which will be unveiled on February 19th with superior features for mobile photography purposes.

A couple of years ago, HTC conquered the smartphone market in the US. It managed to become top smartphone vendor in the third quarter of 2011. The company has gone through a huge decline since then, as its “One” series were absolutely destroyed by Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s latest Galaxy phones.

However, CEO Peter Chou said that HTC will bounce back this year. Mr. Chou added that the reason for the company’s decline was its inability to come up with successful marketing campaigns.

HTC One’s announcement date teased on a Canon DSLR lens.

HTC One coming on 19.2.13

HTC scheduled an event ahead of the Mobile World Congress 2013. After the event’s announcement, the marketing campaign has been kickstarted. The company teased “19.2.13” wherever it was possible, in order to let the whole world know that something “big” is coming on February 19th, 2013.

Recently, the “HTC One” name was leaked and the company even signed an agreement with UEFA, putting this tag all over the Champions League and Europa League soccer matches. The latest piece teaser consists of a Canon DSLR lens image, with the 19.2.13 date on it.

Best camera in its class

Previously, HTC announced that its upcoming smartphone will have the “best camera on the market”. The company admitted that the One shooter will put to shame the acclaimed Nokia Lumia 920’s camera.

Codenamed M7, the smartphone is said to feature a 13-megapixel camera, that will actually account for 4.3 megapixels. The technology behind the camera, dubbed as “Ultrapixels”, will not be similar to the one found on the Nokia PureView 808, as HTC One’s camera will have three sensor layers stacked on top of one another.

For the time being, it is unknown why the Taiwan-based organization teases its smartphone with a Canon lens. The more optimistic people believe that users will be able to clip a DSLR lens on their handsets.

However, current mobile devices were not designed to support such weight, so it is very unlikely that a DSLR lens will become an add-on for a smartphone. Either way, the smartphone might be worthwhile for photographers who need a quick way to snap a photo.

The phone is rumored to feature a quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 5-inch full HD touchscreen, the aforementioned 13-megapixel camera based on the new pixel-stacking technology, and Android 4.2 OS among others.
