Lomography has announced the new Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer medium format camera, as an upgrade to the original edition launched last fall.

Lomography has introduced the new Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer as a camera which delivers very sharp photos. It is aimed at photographers looking for a more classic and stylish look, thanks to its aluminum and leather touches.

As expected, the device is a film camera. The company is specialized in analog products and the Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer is just the next shooter in a long series. This model is available right now as one of the world’s most compact and lightweight medium format cameras.

In order to be as appealing as possible, the manufacturer has added many interesting features in the shooter, one of them which is aimed at preventing photographers from capturing poorly  exposed images.

Lomography Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer announced with three different formats support and an aperture-priority auto-exposure system.

Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer now available in three different formats

The Traiblazer edition is now available in three formats, including 6 x 6, 6 x 9, and 6 x 12. The former represents square photos, the second is for regular images, while the latter is intended for taking panoramic photos on 120 film.

The company had to make the camera more appealing to potential customers, therefore the Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer supports an interchangeable lens system. For the time being, it can be bundled with two lenses.

Additionally, two “high-quality Russian glass lenses” will become available in the near future. The multi-coated Russian optics can be pre-ordered now in 90mm and 114mm versions. The exact release date is unknown, though the company says both of them are coming soon.

Say goodbye to overexposed photos on film

Lomography confirmed that an electronic automatic shutter was added into the medium format shooter. The system will adjust film sensitivity, meaning that images will not turn out overexposed or darkened. The Trailblazer version supports an ISO range between 50 and 1,600, along with multiple exposure modes.

The Lomography Belair X 6-12 Trailblazer features a 1/125 maximum shutter speed, a hot-shoe for flash units, direct optical viewfinder, 1/4″ tripod socket, and 65-degree angle of view for the 90mm lens or 54-degree for the 114mm lens. Both Russian glass lenses can focus at a minimum distance of one meter.

It is available for £289 / €349, with the 120mm film being sold separately. As stated above, the 90mm and 114mm lenses need to be purchased separately as well. Lomography usually ships to most countries around the world, hence prices may vary depending on location.
