Adobe has released Photoshop Touch for download on iPhone and Android smartphones for the small price of $4.99.
Adobe Photoshop is most likely the most popular photo-editing tool in the world. Mobile devices are sold like hot pancakes these days, therefore the company could not have missed the opportunity to release its software on smartphones and tablets.
The Adobe Photoshop Touch app was already available on the iPad, iPad Mini, Google Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, and other tablets. However, it was not ready yet to take on the world of smartphones.
Adobe Photoshop Touch finally released for smartphones
Well, iPhone and Android smartphone users can put aside Instagram and start doing some serious editing, thanks to the Photoshop Touch application, which is available at both the Google Play and iTunes stores for only $4.99.
Users can edit photos taken with their handsets or with other devices, including digital cameras. However, Adobe Photoshop Touch supports images of up to 12 megapixels.
The new app comes packed with several features borrowed from its bigger tablet sibling, including selection tools, filters, layers, adjustments, brushes, and painting effects. Adobe claims that the only limit is the user’s imagination.
Furthermore, smartphone users can apply strokes, add shadows, combine photos, fill areas using Camera Fill, select image areas using Scribble Selection, edit small objects in a photo using Refine Edge, or even add text on their photos.
Images can be stored in the cloud
Android and iPhone users who will purchase the application will receive a free Creative Cloud account, which provides 2GB of online storage.
Photo editors can start a project on their iOS or Android smartphone and finish the job on a tablet. However, this requires a separate purchase of Photoshop Touch for tablets, which costs extra $9.99.
Resulting images can be shared on Facebook and Twitter for the whole world to see your creative capabilities.
Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.0.0 is available on smartphones running Android 4.0 or higher and iOS 6.0 or higher. According to the company, the app is optimized for the iPhone 5, but it will work on the 4S and iPod Touch 5th generation as well.
