Nikon has unveiled its new bridge camera in the body of the Coolpix L320, a superzoom shooter which will become available this March.

The Nikon Coolpix L320 is a new superzoom compact camera with a wide-angle lens. The company says that this is the perfect camera for family photo shoots, though it can also handle action shots with ease.

Nikon Coolpix L320 features a 16.1-megapixel CCD sensor and 26x optical zoom lens.

Nikon Coolpix L320 comes with 16.1MP CCD sensor

The new L320 features a 16.1-megapixel CCD image sensor with a Nikkor 4-104mm lens, which offers a 35mm equivalent of 22.5-585mm. This means that the Coolpix shooter provides a staggering 26x optical zoom, which can be used in most situations.

Nikon’s new camera features vibration reduction technology with motion detection. This will allow the shooter to capture blur-free images by reducing motion blur. However, this superzoom shooter is not equipped with a viewfinder, which may be a huge drawback for many potential customers.

The Nikon Coolpix L320 also features 720p HD video recording, 3-inch 230k-dot LCD screen, ISO of up to 1,600, and a smart portrait system.

The manufacturer claims that L320’s smart portrait system allows photographers to capture the “perfect” portrait each time they take a photo. It comes with a smile timer, blink alerts, and skin softening adjustment. Additionally, a red-eye correction feature will correct wrong eye colors caused by the camera’s built-in flash.

Nikon offers 18 scene modes which are very easy to access by the users. They were designed to automatically choose the correct camera settings while taking a photo.

Eye-Fi support and March 21 shipping date confirmed

The L320 is powered by the EXPEED C2 image processor and four AA batteries. The bridge camera features wireless connectivity with the help of Eye-Fi storage cards. This will allow users to upload JPG images directly into a smartphone and then to the Nikon Image Space service.

The Nikon Coolpix L320 release date is March 21 in Europe. It will become available for a price of £199.99 or €239, depending on markets. US availability and pricing details will be announced in the following weeks.

For the time being, it was unveiled only in Black, though we would not rule out other versions coming in the future.
