Sutton Images photographers will put the Nikon D4 to good use this weekend, when they will capture all the action of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Australian GP will take place on March 17, 2013

The Formula 1 is the most popular racing competition in the world. This weekend, the 64th season of the F1 world championship will kickstart, as usual, in Melbourne, Australia.

Twenty-two drivers out of eleven teams will take part in the first race of the season at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. The actual race will take place on March 17, but Sutton Images will also take photos of the free practice sessions and the qualifications, which occur two days, respectively one day prior to the event.

Nikon UK President, Hidehiko Tanaka, said that more than 60% of all photographers at the London Olympics 2012 used Nikon gear. This achievement has been made possible because the company’s equipment can handle the demands of sports photography with ease, added Tanaka.

On the other hand, Keith Sutton was also happy to sign an agreement with the Japanese organization because Nikon provides a lot of support to Formula 1 photographers.

Sutton Images’ headquarters are located close to the Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom. Its staff consists of award-winning photographers, with an “unrivaled” experience in sports photography.

The Nikon D4 features a 16.2-megapixel image sensor, Expeed 3 image processor, 3.2-inch LCD screen, 1080p HD video recording, a pair of card slots, and live view support.

Nikon DSLR cameras are popular among movie producers, too

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Nikon announced a partnership to become an event’s official digital imaging supplier.

The latest example is SXSW 2013, where the same D4 DSLR has been chosen to capture and live-stream many of the artist performances during the festival.

Additionally, the Nikon D800 camera has been used by the producers of Dexter’s seventh season, as well as by the directors of Broken Night, a short horror movie, to capture the films.
