Schneider-Kreuznach unveils three Xenon full frame cine primes

Schneider-Kreuznach has announced a series of full frame cine lenses, called Xenon, for DSLR camera users who enjoy film making and cinematography.

Schneider-Kreuznach is a well-known company and very popular among professional photographers. The corporation is back with a new lineup of lenses, which will bring three Xenon full frame cine primes to the masses.

The company claims that the lenses are aimed at full frame cameras, though they can be mounted on pro cinematographic cameras as well. They work best when used for video recording, though the lenses can be used for capturing still photos, too.

Schneider-Kreuznach’s Xenon 50mm cine lens has a maximum aperture of T2.1.

Schneider-Kreuznach unveils 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm Xenon full frame cine primes

Schneider-Kreuznach’s Xenon primes will be compatible with full frame Nikon FX and Canon EOS cameras. However, in the press release it is mentioned that the products will be supported by PL-mount cine cameras.

The company will launch three lenses with a fixed focal length. All of them will provide a maximum aperture of T2.1 and the list includes 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm versions.

This is just the initial series, as Schneider-Kreuznach claims that more products will be unveiled in the near future. The upcoming series will consist of wide-angle and telephoto lenses.

Product Manager Daniela Kesselem said that the Xenon prime lenses will provide high optical performance, in order to meet the cinematographers’ expectations.

Xenon 75mm cine lens and its 35mm and 50mm siblings are compatible with full frame Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras.

New Xenon prime lenses can capture 4K videos

The brand new Xenon optics are capable of recording videos at 4K resolution or 4096 x 2304 pixels. Daniela added that the lenses can be attached to a variety of cinematographic accessories, such as matte boxes and rigs.

Schneider-Kreuznach claims that these lenses provide technology which minimizes breathing, while providing concordant bokeh.

The new Xenon full frame primes are made out of an iris diaphragm divided into 14 blades and an M95 filter. Their focus settings offer a maximum angle of rotation of 300 degrees, which can be manually adjusted.

Their bayonet interface can be easily exchanged, but potential customers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on these products.

Xenon full frame cine primes release date is 2H 2013

According to Schneider-Kreuznach, the Xenon T2.1/35mm, T2.1/50mm and T2.1/75mm lenses release date has been scheduled for the second part of this year.

Pricing details will also be determined in 2H 2013, while cinematographers are invited to find out extra information at the company’s official website.
