Adobe has released the long-expected Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4 software updates, with support for 25 new cameras and multiple lens profiles.

More than a month after launching the release candidates of Adobe Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4 available for download, the company has decided to push the final versions of the image-processing tools.

Usually, it does not take so long, but it seems like the testers have found some issues, which have been fixed in the latest release.

Adobe has released the final versions of Lightroom 4.4 and Camera 7.4, adding support for 25 cameras.

Adobe announced that the final versions of the software come packed with RAW file compatibility for 25 cameras, new lens profiles, and various bug fixes, which have been troubling the users in the past.

The Adobe Lightroom 4.4 and Camera Raw 7.4 updates include support for the following cameras:

  • Nikon 1 S1, 1 J3, Coolpix A, Coolpix P330, and the recently-announced D7100;
  • Canon 1D C, 100D / Rebel SL1, and 700D Rebel T5i;
  • Sony NEX-3N and SLT-A58;
  • Leica M (Type 240);
  • Samsung NX300;
  • Olympus XZ-10;
  • Pentax MX-1;
  • Fujifilm FinePix F900EXR, FinePix HS50EXR, FinePix SL1000, X100s, and X20;
  • Hasselblad H5D-40, H5D-50, and Lunar;
  • Casio Exilim EX-ZR700, Exilim EX-ZR710, and Exilim EX-ZR750.

Additionally, the two updates are supporting a bunch of lens profiles, thanks to the following optics:

  • Canon EF 24-70mm f/4 L IS USM;
  • Canon EF 35mm f/2 IS USM;
  • Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/4G ED VR;
  • Nikon 1 Nikkor 18.5mm f/1.8;
  • Sony E 10-18mm F4 OSS;
  • Tamron SP 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro 1:1 VC USD;
  • Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD;
  • Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM;
  • Sigma 18-250mm f/2.5-6.3 DC Macro HSM;
  • Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM;
  • Sigma APO Macro 180mm f/2.8 EX DG OS.

Moreover, the software developer has also focused on fixing some issues affecting Fujifilm and Nikon camera owners. According to the changelog, support for the X-Trans sensor has been enhanced by correcting the demosaic algorithms and the default aspect ratio.

As for the Nikon cameras, the default white balance has been adjusted for some of the company’s older cameras, such as D2X, D2Xs, D2Hs, D200, D40, D50, and D80.

Both Camera Raw 7.4 and Lightroom 4.4 are available with multiple bug fixes. The former comes with improved performance at different zoom levels, while redraw errors have been cut to the minimum. As for the latter, it should display significantly less artifacts during regular usage.

Other improvements to Camera Raw include proper sync-ing of local adjustments with Adobe Bridge, artifacts reduction, Camera Calibration enhancements, and no more crashes when making use of the local adjustment brush.

The list is longer when it comes down to the Lightroom 4.4 update. As stated above, the users of this program will notice fewer artifacts and many improvements. GPS metadata is now displayed properly in all scenarios, vignette information is now included in Sony RX-1-related profiles, and there is also enhanced support for Retina displays and improved Book Modules performance.

Adobe Camera Raw 7.4 can be installed through Photoshop CS6, while Lightroom 4.4 can be downloaded on both Windows and Mac OS X computers from the company’s official website.

It is worth noting that the DNG Converter 7.4 update has also been released for download on Windows and Macs.
