Environmental Photographer of the Year 2013 award goes to Michele Palazzi

Michele Palazzi is the Environmental Photographer of the Year 2013, according to the CIWEM team of judges. The photographer won the award thanks to an amazing picture of two children caught in a sandstorm.

The Italian lensman captured the image in the Gobi desert and he entitled it “Gone with the Dust #02”. The kids were playing in the Mongolian desert when powerful winds struck them. However, they were clever enough to cover their faces, while a camel was searching for food in the distance.

The Rome-based photographer will receive £5,000 for his accomplishment. Beside winning a prestigious competition, the £5,000 amount should be enough to allow the lensman to continue taking photos.
