Mónoculo stool designed to look like a Canon 8-15mm lens

Mónoculo Shop has revealed a stool which looks like a Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L USM fisheye ultra-wide zoom lens.

Interior and fashion designers constantly retort to the world of digital cameras to get inspiration. This is a good thing, as it demonstrates that there are a lot of geeks out there, who like having device-like furniture in their homes.

Designer uses Canon 8-15mm fisheye lens as a source of inspiration for a stool

Mónoculo Shop is a regular supplier for online retailer Etsy and its latest product consists of a stool. Usually, this is not on the radar of a regular photographer, but Canon fans will definitely appreciate its design, as it is made to resemble an EF 8-15mm f/4L USM fisheye ultra-wide zoom lens.

The stool is a replica of the aforementioned lens. Beside looking and being very comfortable, the product can also offer space for your photographic equipment. It is made out of wood and it has been hand-crafted, therefore the designer paid a lot of attention to details.

It is marketed as the perfect studio accessory, as it provides room for a DSLR camera, lenses, and even a very, very small tripod. According to Mónoculo Shop, it measures 53 centimeters in height, respectively 40 centimeters in diameter.

Only one Canon 8-15mm lens-based stool is available and it costs about $776

The “reflex lens stool” has been manufactured out of Ayous wood and only one unit is available for purchase. It is unclear whether or not the company will produce more versions or not, but it is certain that this one costs €580 or $776.54.

Etsy will ship the product worldwide, though pricing depends on region. Spanish folks will have to pay extra €40 / $53.55 for shipping costs, while people in the European Union will be asked to get €80 / $107.11 out of their pockets. Living anywhere else? Then you will need to add €180 / $241 to the mix.

It is a little bit pricey and you cannot take it outdoors since its colors may fade away or the dust may affect it one way or another.

On the other hand, it is less expensive than the actual Canon 8-15mm lens, which is available for sale on Amazon for $1,279.
