Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN Art lens release date and price finally official

Sigma says that its 60mm f/2.8 optic will become available at select retailers in the United States in mid-May. Pricing may very depending on the store, but the manufacturer’s suggested retail price will stand at $239.

This lens will be released in two versions. One of them is aimed at Sony NEX mirrorless cameras with an E-Mount, while the other one has been designed for Micro Four Thirds systems.

Different lens mounts, different 35mm equivalents

Both models will have the same price, but their features will be slightly different, Sigma says. According to the Japanese manufacturer, the MFT version will provide a 120mm equivalent, while the NEX unit will offer a 90mm equivalent, when compared to the 35mm system.

Sigma added that it is very proud to extend its lens lineup for mirrorless cameras. The 60mm version joins the already-existent 19mm f/2.8 DN and 30mm f/2.8 DN prime lenses.

This is another fixed-focal-length optic, which is said to provide beautiful effects, that only a telephoto lens could provide. The company claims that photographers will love the bokeh offered by the 60mm lens.

Solid construction which cuts down chromatic aberrations

It consists of seven diaphragm blades and a Special Low Dispersion glass, that should reduce chromatic aberrations. The aperture will range between f/2.8 and f/22, thus being suitable across various shooting conditions.

As stated above, Micro Four Thirds and Sony NEX E-mount photographers will find the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 DN Art lens on store shelves as of mid-May for a price of $239.
