Transport Photography 2013 competition winner announced

The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers has revealed the winner of its Transport Photography 2013 competition as photographer Mohammad Rakibul Hasan.

The Society of International Travel and Tourism Photographers is well-known for its photography contests. Recently, the society has announced the winner of the Street Photography 2013 competition, while the National and Wildlife society has proclaimed the winner of the Spring Time Competition 2013.

Now it is time to announce the laureate of the Transport Photography 2013 contest. The winner has been selected from hundreds of entries and his name is Mohammad Rakibul Hasan. The winning shot is a perfectly-composed photo of a man who is transporting many barrels using an improvised car of some sort.

Well, the societies are back with another winner for another photo contest, which has attracted more than 450 entries from photographers all around the world.

Out of the 450 entries, the award has been given to Mohammad Rakibul Hasan, a photographer from Bangladesh.

Just looking through the rest of entries it is very easy to understand why Mohammad has been selected as the Street Photography 2013 laureate. Other photographers have submitted amazing pictures, but Rakibul Hasan’s image goes beyond amazing.

The photo shows an older man carrying almost 20 barrels which appear to be constructed out of metal.

He is doing that on an improvised barrow. The photographer says that workers are forced to perform in miserable conditions, though the image perfectly describes “muscularity”.

Mohammad added that the image has been captured in the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka.

The Bangladesh-based lensman will receive a 12-month membership to a society of his choice, as well as the usual prize consisting of a Trek Tech Optera 230 tripod.

Runners-up and highly commended photographers announced, too

Second place has been awarded to Philip Garlington, a photographer from Preston, UK. His photo depicts a bride riding on a motorcycle.

Additionally, the third place has been given to M.T. Bandu Gunaratne. The Sri Lanka-based lensman submitted an impressive photo of three men handling several camels somewhere in the desert.

Both runners-up will receive a 6-month subscription to a society of their choice.

It is worth reminding that the competition’s judges have also selected a list of “Highly Commended” images. The list can be found at the society’s official website and all photos are simply a joy to behold.
