Samsung has introduced the tiniest and thinnest fisheye lens on the market, in the body of the ultra wide-angle 10mm f/3.5 lens for NX cameras.
Fisheye lenses are some of the most popular optics on the market, as they allow photographers to capture unique photos and add as many objects as possible in a frame. Samsung has officially launched a new product for these people, which will go by the name of 10mm f/3.5 fisheye lens.
Samsung 10mm f/3.5 ultra wide-angle lens becomes the smallest and thinnest fisheye lens in the world
The Samsung 10mm f/3.5 fisheye lens is the smallest of its kind currently available on the market. Moreover, it is also the slimmest that you can find, therefore it is great for pocketable compact cameras, like the ones in the NX series.
It comes packed with an 180-degree ultra wide-angle of view, making its manufacturer to say that it is the perfect product for landscape photography. However, the new glass is also aimed at portrait photography, because it can provide “interesting effects”.
Samsung’s latest fisheye lens is a tool for fun photography, says the company. The South Korean company claims that it weighs only 72 grams and measures 26.3mm in length. Its diameter size stands at 58.8mm and it is compatible with many lens hoods, but an extra one will not be available in the package.
Samsung 10mm f/3.5 fisheye lens features a 35mm equivalent of 15.4mm
The Samsung 10mm f/3.5 ultra wide-angle lens provides a 35mm equivalent of 15.4mm. It is made out of seven elements (one of them being an ashperical element), split in five groups.
Its maximum aperture stands at f/3.5, while the minimum one is f/22. Unfortunately, there is no built-in optical image stabilization, therefore users should set their camera on a tripod when capturing photos with this baby.
Anyway, the optic’s minimum focusing distance is 9cm and it is worth stating once again that it is compatible only with Samsung’s NX cameras.
Samsung will release the product in H2 2013
The Samsung 10mm f/3.5 fisheye lens release date has been scheduled for the second half of 2013, meaning that the product should become available for purchase as of July or later.
The price and market availability details will be revealed in the near future, as they remain unknown for the time being.
