Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 photographers will be able to download new firmware updates for their cameras, in order to enable support for the newly-announced X-mount lenses.

It has been a busy day for Fujifilm, as the Japan-based company has introduced the X-M1 camera, the XC 16-50mm and XF 27mm lenses.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras are now upgradeable to new firmware versions, in order to support the new XF 27mm f/2.8 and XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS lenses.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 firmware updates now available for download

The X-M1 is an entry-level X-Trans camera, while the two lenses are aimed at X-mount shooters, including the X-Pro1 and X-E1. In order for these cameras to support the lenses, upgrading the firmware is required.

As a result, Fujifilm has revealed that the X-Pro1 firmware version 2.05 and X-E1 firmware version 1.06 have been released for download.

The changelogs of the two cameras are identical. Users will now be able to use the Fn button for Focus Frame Selection. This functionality is now more accessible, allowing photographers to use the camera with one hand.

Another button can be used as an Fn one. The “down” button on the cameras can be assigned a function of the photographer’s choice. The default is the Focus Frame Selection, but both the Fn and down buttons can now be fully customized.

The final addition consists of enabling aperture control directly into the cameras. The new XF 27mm f/2.8 and XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses do not have aperture rings on them, meaning that photographers need a way to control it. Now, the command dial can be used for setting the aperture.
