Bell Labs creates lensless camera based on a single pixel
Bell Labs scientists have been inventing things that we use on a daily basis for ages. These guys have done it again, as a team of researchers has introduced a new type of camera which does not use a lens to capture photos. Instead, the device relies on compressive sensing and a single pixel to gather everything it needs.
Sony World Photography Awards 2014 competition opens up
Sony and the World Photo Organization have opened the gates of the 2014 Photographer of the Year and the other two photo competitions. Photographers will be able to submit images to the Sony World Photography Awards 2014 until January next year, for a chance to win the L’Iris d’Or and $25,000 prize money.
New Panasonic GF camera to be announced in late 2013
Panasonic is working hard to expand its Micro Four Thirds offerings. The Japanese company is rumored to introduce a GX1 replacement this summer, while the rumor mill is suggesting that a new smaller-than-GF3 camera is also coming by the end of the year to become the smallest MFT shooter ever.
Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens coming this summer
Canon is rumored to be actively working on a replacement for the EOS M mirrorless camera. The new shooter will wipe out all the shortcomings of the original one, but it is not going to come on the market all by itself. The latest gossip talk involves a EF-M 11-22mm lens, which is said to become available this summer.
Sony A77 firmware update to include Honami JPEG engine support
Sony SLT-A77 users might get a firmware update by the end of the summer. The changelog of the upgrade has just been leaked. It includes the also-rumored Honami JPEG engine, which is said to be under development, in order to provide higher-quality JPEG images, just like Nikon, Canon, and Fujifilm cameras.
New Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L lens patented in Japan
Canon may be working on a next-generation EF 70-200mm f/4L USM lens. The Japan-based company has just had its patent approved in its home country. This could mean a lot of things, but Canon may actually introduce a new 70-200mm optic, as the original one has been released on the market back in 2006.

After revealing the cutest DSLR camera of all time, Thanko has decided to strike awe in our minds with the help of the so-called 32 LED Smartphone Flash. Panasonic GX7 camera to replace GX1 in Q3 2013
Panasonic is rumored to be actively working at developing the “dream camera” for Micro Four Thirds adopters. The GX1 successor will be announced in August and go on sale in September, but it will not be called GX2, as previously believed. Instead, the company has chosen to name it GX7.
