The Camera RAW 8.2 RC changelog is not so extended as it includes only support for new camera and lens profiles, namely the Canon 70D, Fujifilm X-M1, and Sony RX1-R.

On the other hand, the Lightroom 5.2 RC update is much more varied, as it brings new features, as well as plenty of bug fixes to improve the photographers’ editing lives.

Adobe Lightroom 5.2 Release Candidate changelog includes multiple new features

Adobe says that the Lightroom 5.2 RC update adds a new Smoothness slider into the Detail Panel. It can be found right under Color Noise Reduction.

The Spot Healing Tool has also been improved with a novel Feather control and auto find source adjustments.

The Local Adjustment Brush’s context menu now shows up when right-clicking on PC and Control-clicking on Mac OS X. Meanwhile “pinning to clone” works with Control + Alt + dragging on PC and Command + Option + dragging on Mac OS X, respectively.

Additionally, the size of the Smart Previews has been extended to a width of 2560 pixels.

Lightroom 5.2 RC update also brings plenty of bug fixes

The bug fixes for Lightroom 5.2 RC include the ability to apply Output Sharpening and Noise Reduction to images which have had their size reduced to one thirds of their original dimensions.

From now on, pressing Reset while holding Shift no launch makes the program crash. Photos processed with PV2003 used to add vignetting when adding the catalog to Lightroom, but the latest update fixes this issue.

Selecting images in Publish Services with a segmented grid layout now works as intended, meaning that the program will no longer select an incorrect file. Hitting the Escape key now exits a slideshow even if the user right-clicks on the screen.

Metadata information is displayed properly even after modifying a published photo. Last but not least, the import dialog will no longer remain blank when importing files from folders with PNG images and XMP sidecars.

Adobe Camera RAW 8.2 RC can be downloaded on Windows and Mac OS X computers. Furthermore, Lightroom 5.2 RC is available for download on Windows and Mac OS X PCs, too.

For those who are unaware, it is worth noting that a “Release Candidate” version is the one which is a nominee for being a final version. If testers do not find any major bugs, then Lightroom 5.2 RC will become Lightroom 5.2 final.
