Sigma has posted a press release in order to announce a new lens mount conversion service, as well as a 4-year warranty for all products purchased after July 1, 2013.
Sigma’s fans are becoming more numerous thanks to the company’s products and its policies. Beside the impressive 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens, the Japanese manufacturer is also making some good decisions. Its accomplishments are nothing short of revolutionary, they are innovative indeed, and the aforementioned lens is a good example.
Sigma reveals revolutionary Mount Conversion System for its lenses
The latest achievement is a lens conversion service. Sigma has announced that photographers who bought one of its lenses with a certain mount will be able to change that mount for a small fee.
This means that if you bought a 19mm f/2.8 DN lens with a Sony mount, you will be able to ship the product to Sigma and its engineers will change the mount to Micro Four Thirds.
Sigma says that this is all a part of its “Global Vision” and that the Mount Conversion System will become available as of September 2.
List of Sigma lenses compatible with the conversion service
Art, Sport, and Contemporary lenses are supported, along with Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sigma, Micro Four Thirds, and Sony A / E mounts. The full list of optics includes the following:
- <17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM;
- 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art;
- 19mm f/2.8 DN;
- 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM;
- 30mm f/2.8 DN;
- 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM;
- 60mm f/2.8 DN;
- 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM.
Modifications will be made in Japan and users will have to pay for the shipping costs
Sigma has confirmed that the work will be done in Japan, at the Aizu factory, where all of the corporation’s products are made. Modifying a DN lens will cost you $80, standard lenses $150, and telephoto lenses $250, respectively.
It is worth noting that shipping charges are excluded, therefore users will have to pay for these as well.
Either way, the Sigma Mount Conversion System will be useful in case you sell your camera and buy another one with a different mount.
All Sigma products bought after July 1, 2013 now have a 4-year warranty
The other important announcement made by Sigma refers to extended warranty. All of the company’s products, such as cameras, lenses, and flashes, purchased after July 1, 2013 will have a 4-year warranty.
More details can be found at Sigma’s official website, where current users can also register their product and benefit from the extended warranty.
