The Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens provides a 35mm equivalent of 27-210mm. The 7.8x optical zoom ensures that photographers capture the action in high quality at both the wide-angle and telephoto ends.

According to the Japanese company, the optic offers 4-stop image stabilization, which improves shooting in low-light conditions. The measurements are said to have been made according to the CIPA standards.

Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens features a manual focus ring

Nikon has not added an aperture ring to the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. However, it sports a manual focus ring and a tiny switch that helps photographers trigger the aforementioned manual mode.

It is made out of 17 elements split in 12 groups and a diaphragm made out of seven blades. A Silent Wave Motor has been added, too, in order to ensure that autofocusing remains as quiet as possible.

New zoom lens to be released in late August for less than $600

Usually, such lenses come packed with a DSLR. However, this product will not be available in a bundle, suggesting that a new camera is on its way.

This lens does not provide a huge increase in zoom range over current optics, therefore this is another proof that it may be offered as a kit with a new DSLR.

Either way, the Nikon 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens release date has been scheduled for late August and a MSRP of $599.95. Amazon is already taking pre-orders for the lens at the price of $596.95.
