New Olympus OM-D E-M1 specs surfaced online

A new set of Olympus OM-D E-M1 specs have showed up online, this time revealing that the camera will not sport a Four Thirds mount.

Olympus will officialize a high-end OM-D camera during the second week of next month. September will bring a lot of surprises and the so-called E-M1 is one of them.

At first, this shooter was supposed to be an entry-level one, but as leaks intensified it became clear that it is actually a high-end unit with better specifications than the E-M5.

Olympus E-M5
Olympus E-M5’s position will not be threatened by the OM-D E-M1. It seems like the upcoming camera will replace the E-5, though it will not feature a Four Thirds mount. Thankfully, an MFT-to-FT adapter will take care of that.

High-end Olympus E-M1 to support only Micro Four Thirds mount out of the box

Despite all that, the E-M1 is not replacing the E-M5. In fact, it will be substituting a Four Thirds camera, called E-5. Although it has been said that it will feature a hybrid Four Thirds-Micro Four Thirds mount, the camera will only support the latter.

In the wake of new evidence, the upcoming E-M1 will come packed with a Micro Four Thirds sensor and mount. However, Olympus will release an MFT-to-FT adapter, allowing photographers to attach Four Thirds lenses to their apparatus.

New Olympus OM-D E-M1 specs look very promising

Furthermore, a new Olympus OM-D E-M1 specs list has appeared on the web. It confirms that the camera will sport a bigger DSLR-inspired grip, 16-megapixel sensor, 10 frames per second in continuous mode, WiFi, and a high-resolution 2.36-million dot electronic viewfinder.

The device will also offer an 81-point autofocus system, ISO sensitivity range between 200 and 25,600, 3-inch tilting LCD touchscreen, shutter speed range between 1/8000 and 60 seconds, and a flash sync speed of 1/320-second.

The leakster has provided the Micro Four Thirds camera’s dimensions. It seems like the device will measure 4.8 x 2.7 x 1.5-inches and will weigh 0.9-lbs, meaning that it will not be a burden to photographers.

Olympus to sell E-M1 for €1,500 in Europe

Recently, the Olympus OM-D E-M1 price has become a subject of speculation, too. Inside sources are claiming that the camera will cost €1,500 in Europe. This means that the US is getting it for $1,500 or more.

It will be an expensive shooter, considering the fact that advanced APS-C cameras, like the Canon 70D and the Nikon D7100, are available for purchase for a little less than $1,200.

This rumor will turn into news in the second week of September, so stay tuned for more info.
