People familiar with the matter have revealed a list of new Pentax K-3 specs, which contradicts most of the information leaked in a previous rumor.

Ricoh has been rumored to launch a new Pentax camera recently. The DSLR is supposed to be called K-3 and to become official sometime in late October. Additionally, curious eyes could take a closer look at it during a special photo event in Paris in early November.

A new Pentax K-3 rumor is circling around the web, saying that the DSLR will feature a 24-megapixel APS-C version. Either way, the sensor will have more pixels than the ones found in the K-5 IIs.

Pentax K-3 to feature 24-megapixel sensor, not 20MP as previously rumored

According to the previous rumor, the camera features a 20-megapixel APS-C sensor without an anti-aliasing filter. However, the new Pentax K-3 specs list says that the device is pacing a 24-megapixel version of the AA-less APS-C image sensor.

The lack of an optical low-pass filter will surely increase moiré effects, but the company is said to counteract the issue with the addition of a software-based AA filter.

Trusted sources are also reporting that the K-3 will be powered by a Prime III processing engine, while an 100% optical viewfinder will provide a 0.95x magnification.

New Pentax K-3 specs list includes 27-point AF system, 8.5fps burst mode, and 4-stop Shake Reduction

The latest Pentax K-3 rumor adds that the camera packs a burst mode of up to 8.5 frames per second, 4-stop Shake Reduction technology, a fixed LCD, and a 27-point AF system.

Photographers would surely like that screen to be tiltable, but the other features will have to be considered enough and allow them to get more creative as well as to capture high quality photos.

It appears that an 86k RGB segmented light metering will be added into the camera, which provides a minimum sensitivity of -3EV, the source says.

Pentax K-3 DSLR camera packs a USB 3.0 port and it will cost $1,299.99

Ricoh’s upcoming camera will be able to shoot MPEG4 videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60i/30p frame rates. Apparently, there is a stereo phone-out port within the device and a USB 3.0 one is also there.

The Pentax K-3 will weigh about 800 grams, while its body-only price will stand at $1,299.99. Ricoh will also announce an 18-70mm f/2.8 DA lens. Its price and specs are unknown, but they should become official at the same event as the K-3.

There are no more details regarding availability therefore we can assume that nothing has changed and we will see this shooter launched in late October.
