This week has begun with information about a new DSLR camera from Pentax, which will be called K-3. The initial specifications and details about this device have proved to be false, but this may be due to the fact that the company has been testing multiple prototypes.

Pentax K-50 is a mid-range DSLR camera announced in mid-2013. A higher-end Pentax-branded DSLR, called K-3, is expected to become official on October 8.

Either way, the real Pentax K-3 specs have surfaced online, along with the DSLR’s price for the body-only version. If you own some Pentax lenses, then the good news will not stop here for you.

According to the rumor mill, the Pentax K-3 launch date has already been scheduled. The camera will become official in a special event in Japan on October 8. A similar date is also rumored for the Nikon D610, which might be announced during the 7th or 8th of October.

Pentax K-3 is rumored to feature a 24-megapixel APS-C image sensor without an anti-aliasing filter, PRIME III processing engine, 27-point autofocus system, 100% optical viewfinder with 0.95x magnification rate, fixed LCD screen, and full HD video recording at various frame rates.

The specifications sheet resumes with a continuous shooting mode up to 8.5 frames per second, 4-stop Shake Reduction system, and a USB 3.0 port. All of these will take the total weight of the body to 800 grams.

Speaking of the body, it will become available shortly after launch for a price of $1,299.99. It remains to be seen where Ricoh will sell this DSLR camera first if this is a global launch.

Previous reports had suggested that the K-3 will be launched in late October and that photographers will be able to catch a glimpse of the device in early November, at the Salon de la Photo 2013 event in Paris, France.

The company was supposed to reveal an 18-70mm f/2.8 DA zoom lens, too, but now the accuracy of this information is doubtful. The good thing is that October 8 is just two weeks away and we will hear more about it on that date.
