Tamron is rumored to announce a new telephoto lens on November 7 for most DSLR cameras with an APS-C image sensor.

Japanese companies really know their way around when it comes to digital imaging products. Beside camera makers such as Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Sony, and others, Sigma and Tamron are third party accessory manufacturers. Both are pretty good at it and they are already starting to pose a threat to the glass made by the aforementioned giants, as the pricing is also considerably lower.

Sigma is rumored to launch new long telephoto lenses to complete its Sports series sometime in 2014. However, Tamron is not going to wait until then. According to sources familiar with the matter, a novel telephoto optic will be launched as soon as next week.

New Tamron telephoto lens rumored to be introduced on November 7

In order to further back up these facts, someone has revealed a teaser for the product on a Poland-based forum. The new Tamron telephoto lens does not have a rumored focal length, yet, but sources are pretty sure that it is a “serious” product with zoom capabilities.

Recently, a 16-300mm model has been speculated. However, it does not sound like a “serious” lens, therefore we will probably see another optic with a very different and, why not, longer focal length.

The new Tamron telephoto lens will be announced on November 7, if it were to trust the teaser on the Polish forum and there is no reason not to believe it.

Tamron to release its telephoto optic for most APS-C DSLR cameras

October has been an exciting month with new gear from Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus, and Fujifilm among others. As the “Le Salon de la Photo” event is opening its doors on the same date as the Tamron optic launch date, it seems like November will be another good timeframe for photographers.

Another testimony to this fact is the Nikon DF, a retro-styled full frame DSLR that will be introduced on November 5. All details are available on Camyx and we are simply hoping that, in a week’s time, the company will match the excitement created by the “Pure Photography” teasers with its new shooter.

Returning to the new Tamron telephoto lens, it will be compatible only with APS-C DSLR cameras from Nikon, Canon and others. Stay tuned, the announcement is only one week away.
