Tamron unveils 150-600mm f/5-6.3 ultra-telephoto zoom lens
The new Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 telephoto lens substitutes an older version, which is by no means a “weak” optic. The 200-500mm f/5-6.3 will have to wave goodbye to potential customers soon as its production is coming to an end.
The company has patented this model with longer focal ends sometime late last year and it seems like things have gone smoothly, which is always great news. Its design consists of 20 elements divided into 13 groups with a trio of low dispersion elements to prevent chromatic aberrations.
Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 telephoto lens includes Vibration Compensation technology to reduce shakes
Tamron’s upcoming ultra-telephoto lens comes packed with numerous exciting features. Vibration Compensation is the most important of them all since it manages to stabilize the lens and capture blur-free images.
The Ultrasonic Silent Drive is the autofocus motor that provides smooth and quiet AF. There is a manual focus ring on the optic, allowing users who are unhappy with the autofocus to have fun with their photography.
The optical quality is preserved by the new Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency (eBAND) coating by cutting down reflections in the lens thus reducing flare and ghosting, the company added.
Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD coming soon for full frame and APS-C Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras
Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lens is compatible with the full frame and APS-C cameras made by Canon, Nikon, and Sony. When mounted on an APS-C model, it will provide a 35mm format equivalent of 233-930mm.
The optic has a weight of 1,951 grams / 4.30lbs and measures 258mm / 10.15-inches in length. It offers a diameter of 106mm / 4.16-inches and its filter thread is sized at 95mm.
As the rumor mill has been predicting, this is a serious lens. However, the manufacturer has not provided its release date, or its price. Still, potential buyers should expect it to become available soon for a hefty amount, although much smaller when compared to its competitors.
