Sony HXR-NX3 camcorder announced with WiFi and NFC

The Sony HXR-NX3 is a new camcorder that combines functionality with portability and user-friendliness in order to put together one of the most exciting devices in its category.

Recording videos is now a daily activity for a lot of people. When a smartphone or a conventional camera can no longer satisfy the needs of the users, they will decide to switch to a dedicated camcorder.

Sony is an established camcorder manufacturer and the company has come forth with another great product for this category. It is called HXR-NX3 and it offers a lot of exciting features in a compact body.

Sony HXR-NX3 is a new camcorder that uses WiFi or NFC to transfer full HD videos to a smartphone, tablet or computer.

The new shooter comes packed with a new large-scale integration chipset as well as the latest sensor and lens technology that cut down noise, distortion, and other imperfections.

Moreover, the Sony HXR-NX3 comes with built-in WiFi so that users can transfer MP4 videos directly to their computers and mobile devices, such as iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

The connectivity department is completed by a Near Field Communication chip. NFC can come in handy as it gives users the possibility of sharing content only by touching two devices.

Full HD video camcorder with 40x optical zoom lens

Sony HXR-NX3 is powered by three 1/2.8-inch-type image sensors capable of shooting videos at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60p frame rate. Each sensor captures a light signal of its own in order to provide improved quality and sensitivity as well as a broader dynamic range.

The integrated G lens provides a 35mm equivalent of 28.8mm at the widest point and 1,152mm at the telephoto end, respectively. It is a 40x optical zoom lens that captures movies in uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 mode.

Files are stored on a pair of SD cards, which should provide enough room to store several hours of footage, depending on quality. It is worth noting that this camcorder has a built-in microphone, therefore users will not be forced to purchase an external one.

Availability information

The PlayStation manufacturer has revealed that the Sony HXR-NX3 will be released to the market by the end of January for a price of $3,495.

For the time being, it is not available for pre-order, but potential buyers will be able to “book” a unit in the coming weeks.
