The weathersealed Fujifilm X-T1 mirrorless camera is rumored to be introduced during a special announcement that will take place on January 28.

Towards the end of 2013, the rumor mill has begun hinting at a Fujifilm camera that can be used in all types of adverse conditions. The weathersealed X-mount shooter has been said to become official at the beginning of the year and, as time went by, January has been selected as the most likely timeframe for a launch.

It has not been unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show 2014, but Fujifilm has launched a weatherproof bridge camera during the event. Either way, it seems like a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that can withstand whatever mother nature throws at it will be announced on January 28 under the name of Fujifilm X-T1.

The Fujifilm X-E1 has recently been replaced by the X-E2. A new X-mount camera is on its way and it will be announced on January 28 as the first weathersealed model of its series.

Fujifilm X-T1 weatherproof camera to be officially unveiled on January 28

The naming scheme is nothing new for Fujifilm. However, the “T” is definitely something we have never seen in the X-series cameras. Still, most photographers probably do not care about this, as the features are more important so they cannot wait for January 28 to come any sooner.

Beside the weatherproof body, the X-T1 camera will come packed with other goodies that will make lensmen drool. One of them is allegedly the best electronic viewfinder on the market coupled with the fastest autofocus performance of a mirrorless shooter in its category.

The so-called “Fuji T camera” will allegedly autofocus faster than the X-E2, which is capable of doing it in about 0.08 seconds. These features have made sources to claim that anybody who is considering to buy an Olympus OM-D camera right now, should wait for this month’s end, as the X-T1 will be “worth the wait”.

Weathersealed Fuji T camera to feature dual SD card slots, optional battery grip, and X-Trans sensor

The rumored Fujifilm X-T1 weatherproof camera specs also include a 16-megapixel X-Trans CMOS II sensor (the same as the one found in the X-E2), two SD card slots, and support for an optional battery grip.

It appears that Fuji wants people to shoot using the X-T1 without any interruptions caused by swapping batteries or SD cards.

Wildlife and sports photographers will certainly appreciate these features, although one could argue that there are no professionals who would not want to have such options at their disposal.

We are expecting more details to be leaked ahead of the January 28 event, therefore you should stick with us for more information.
