New Sony camera to replace NEX-6 and NEX-7 at CP+ 2014

A new Sony camera is rumored to be announced at the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2014 in February as a replacement for both the NEX-6 and NEX-7.

People who are leaking information about the future plans of Sony are absolutely sure that, this time, there are no more delays and no other setbacks for the mirrorless camera that is supposed to replace the NEX-7.

Gossip talks have placed its release date at the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2014, a huge industry event which is scheduled to take place in mid-February in Yokohama, Japan.

Although the speculation claiming that the device would be released last year have all turned out to be false, the NEX-7 successor is bound to become official next month.

Sony NEX-6
Sony NEX-6 is rumored to be replaced by the same camera which will substitute the NEX-7 at CP+ 2014.

A complete specifications list is not available, yet, but inside sources have revealed some information about the new Sony camera. First of all, it will become the flagship APS-C E-mount shooter.

Furthermore, the device is not only replacing the NEX-7, but the NEX-6 as well. Launched at Photokina 2012, the NEX-6 is placed below the camera introduced in August 2011. However, it does offer an interesting set of features, such as a higher ISO sensitivity, more focus points, and shorter booting time.

Flagship APS-C E-mount camera to be faster and to offer higher image quality than its predecessors

Sony will launch a mirrorless camera that will feature a faster autofocus system as well as an improved image processor. The image quality will be a lot better than before and its electronic viewfinder is expected to undergo some enhancements.

Sources familiar with the PlayStation maker’s business have added that the shooter will be priced at €800 in Europe. Shipping will begin in several markets across the world as of April, but prices will vary depending on region.

At the time of writing this article, Amazon Germany is selling the NEX-7 for about €750, while the US branch is asking $909, so the replacement could cost roughly $950 stateside. Please note that the prices of the NEX-7 may change in the meantime.

Sony working on two A-mount cameras, new RX FF model, and more FF E-mount units

The future of the Sony digital camera line-up includes many new models. A couple of A-mount cameras could be announced this April and a new RX-series full frame compact might become official alongside two new full frame E-mount units towards the end of the summer.

The pair of A-mount shooters are the replacements for the A77 and A99. Both have made it into the rumor mill and it seems like their time is approaching quickly.
