Canon 7D is finally getting replaced this spring. It will feature a hybrid viewfinder and numerous video-related functions.

People familiar with Canon’s affairs have confirmed that the next DSLR launch will consist of the EOS 7D replacement.

The new device will become official during the second quarter of 2014. A more exact timeline would be spring of the calendar year, thus ruling out June.

There are little chances for the camera to go live at the NAB Show 2014, as this event is aimed at videography fans, albeit the EOS 7D Mark II is rumored to feature breakthrough video functions.

For the National Association of Broadcasters Show 2014, Canon has prepared a couple of Cinema EOS cameras, one of them being able to capture 4K videos.

As for the Canon 7D Mark II specs list, the camera will come packed with dual card slots and support for CF cards.

Its APS-C image sensor will stand just shy of 25 megapixels and a hybrid viewfinder will provide photographers the necessary means to compose their shots.

A release date is not given, but sources are saying that it may take a while for the DSLR to become available on the market.

Photokina 2014 bringing Canon’s big megapixel full frame DSLR camera

The replacement for the Canon 7D will become the second DSLR to be unveiled by the company in 2014.

Only three such devices will be released this year, the first of them being the Canon 1200D / Rebel T5.

The third DSLR is a high-end model with a big megapixel full frame sensor and it is coming at Photokina 2014 this fall.
