Photographer Jake Olson captures amazing portrait photos of children with Nebraska’s beautiful rural landscapes in the background and without using any additional light sources.

As technology progresses, the art of photography is shifting as well. It is much easier to capture great photos with the all the gear being launched, although it comes packed with a lot of physical work as you have to setup an entire studio during the simplest photo shoots.

Nevertheless, this does not necessarily mean that all photographers use the same technique, have the same vision, or carry around tons of equipment. Each person is unique and one lensman who tries to stick to the basics is Jake Olson.

The Nebraska-based graphic artist and photographer is the author of several breath-taking image series. Fine art, family, senior, and children photography collections are all there, but the cutest one is the latter.

Olson’s talent allows him to take magical portraits of children using natural light and a Canon 5D Mark III DSLR camera usually coupled with an 85mm f/1.2 lens.

The background is taken care of by the gorgeous landscapes of rural Nebraska where the children use special outfits to blend in with the surroundings.

There are plenty of other subjects in the shots, including a bulldog and a rabbit, which can cause some cuteness overload.

Step 1: Abandon business. Step 2: Pick-up camera. Step 3: Become award-winning photographer

Photographer Jake Olson says that he has been fond of photography ever since childhood. However, his career has begun a few years ago after deciding to abandon his jewelry business and pick-up a digital camera.

The talent was already there, but Olson did study photography at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh to learn some tips and tricks. This whole saga has turned out very well, as his photos are magnificent, bringing him a few awards.

Some titles include Rockbrook Camera’s Choice for Best Portrait in 2012 and Omaha World Herald Editor’s Choice for Best Landscape Image in 2012.

It’s never too late to follow your dreams

When someone receives so many praises, it almost sounds too good to be true. We invite you to take a closer look at Jake Olson’s collection and you will be pleasantly surprised, as words cannot do justice to be Nebraska-based award-winning photographer.

As his career has been kickstarted around his 38th birthday, Olson teaches us that it is never too late to pursue our passion and to always do the things we love to do. More photos are available at his personal website.
