Sigma to launch Fujifilm X-mount lenses at Photokina 2014

Sigma to launch Fujifilm X-mount lenses at Photokina 2014

Sigma is rumored to be present at Photokina 2014 and to reveal its first lenses for Fujifilm X-mount mirrorless cameras.

Fujifilm is currently offering a decent amount of lenses for X-mount mirrorless cameras. The Japanese company is also actively working on extending its offer and by the end of the year we should see the first weathersealed X-mount optics being launched on the market.

For the time being, Zeiss is the only official partner for Fuji. The German maker is selling three optics for X-mount shooters, including the Touit 12mm f/2.8, 32mm f/1.8, and 50mm f/2.8. Additionally, Samyang is also making manual lenses for Fuji cameras, although it is not an official Fuji comrade.

There are hints pointing towards the fact that the X-mount camera sales are increasing and that the Japanese corporation will support the line-up for years to come. As a result, it appears that other lens makers have taken a particular interest in Fujifilm shooters. According to the rumor mill, the next company to jump on the X-mount bandwagon is Sigma.

These are just five of the many Sigma lenses available on the market. The company is rumored to reveal its first lenses for Fujifilm X-mount cameras during the Photokina 2014.

Sigma rumored to announce the company’s first Fujifilm X-mount lenses at Photokina 2014

The Photokina is the largest event of the digital imaging world. It occurs only once every two years, so a company that is related to photography should not miss it and it should be a part of the whole show no matter what.

This also includes Sigma and, according to a trusted source, the company will not come empty-handed. A person who wanted to remain anonymous is claiming that Sigma will reveal its first Fujifilm X-mount lenses at the Photokina 2014.

For the time being, this is all the information available to us, so we do not know whether Sigma will reveal brand new models or simply make some of its current optics compatible with the Fuji X-mount cameras.

Either way, the highly-praised Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art is surely on every X-mount photographer’s agenda. The XF 56mm f/1.2 is available for a little under $1,000 at Amazon, while the 50mm f/1.4 Art model costs $949.

Fujifilm is planning to expand X-mount line-up by the end of 2014

Meanwhile, the rumor mill is still claiming that Fujifilm’s high-speed wide-angle lens consists of an XF 16mm f/1.4 model. In addition, the super-telephoto zoom lens on the company’s roadmap consists of a 120-400mm optic.

At least one of these products should become official during or around the Photokina 2014. Still, these are all rumors therefore you will have to take them with a pinch of salt.
