Nikon D800 / D800E successor coming on June 26

Nikon is rumored to hold a product launch event on June 26 in order to announce the successor for the D800 and D800E, which will be called D800s when it becomes available on the market later this summer.

The summer will bring several exciting products to the digital imaging world. Among them we can find the Nikon D800s, the elusive DSLR camera that is aiming to replace the D800 and D800E.

It has been believed that the device will become official by the end of this week, however, things appear to have changed. According to highly-trusted sources, the exact announcement date of the Nikon D800 / D800E successor is June 26.

The successor of the Nikon D800E, called D800s, will not feature an anti-aliasing filter. However, it will also replace the D800. The DSLR is scheduled to be announced on June 26.

There are no chances for the Nikon D800s to become official this week because the Japanese company will reveal it on June 26. This is what people who have been right in the past are claiming and, although it is still a rumor, there are few chances that it is false.

Unfortunately, it is unknown whether the high-end compact camera with a 1-inch-type sensor is coming or not. Additionally, there are no mentions of new lenses, so do not count on them for the time being.

Nikon D800s specs list remains unchanged from the last time we spoke about the DSLR

As for the Nikon D800s specs, the previously-leaked list remains unchanged. The DSLR will sport a 36.3-megapixel full frame sensor, similar to that of the D800 and D800E, which will not feature an anti-aliasing sensor. This means that it resembles the D800E, while the rumor mill is confident that there will be no model with an optical low-pass filter, like the D800.

Nevertheless, the camera will sport a new software-based moiré suppression technology, whereas the D800s will be powered by EXPEED 4/4A image processor.

A higher-resolution LCD screen will sit on the device’s back, while inside the device we can find a GPS, better video features, improved autofocus and low-light capabilities.

The Nikon D800 / D800E successor will shoot up to 5fps and will be manufactured in Thailand. Its price will be bigger than the one of the D800E, which is available for around $3,300 at Amazon.
