Samyang has finally introduced its sought-after 50mm cine lens. The announcement comes one day earlier than expected and it confirms that the optic features a T1.5 light transmission.

Last week, Samyang has begun claiming that “dreams come true”. It has served as a teaser for a product launch event scheduled for August 26.

The campaign also included some interesting images, which pointed to the introduction of a 50mm lens. Users have demanded such optic for a very long time and the company has finally delivered one day prior to the date announced initially.

The result is called Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC lens and it will be on-display at the Photokina 2014 event, which takes place in Cologne, Germany as of September 16.

The South Korean manufacturer has finally bridged the gap between its 35mm and 85mm lenses, reads an official press release. Samyang is claiming that its new optic will provide a high image quality, which will meet the demands of photographers and videographers alike.

Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC lens is aimed at full frame cameras. However, it will be compatible with camera systems with smaller image sensors. The full list of compatible mounts will most likely be revealed at Photokina 2014.

The lens provides a 46.2-degree field-of-view and a maximum aperture of f/1.4 or T1.5 light transmission. This means that it will also offer amazing bokeh and a very shallow depth of field, so it could become your favorite portrait lens.

The company has confirmed that the internal design is made out of nine elements split into six groups. An aspherical element and a hybrid aspherical element have been added into the mix in order to increase optical quality.

The new Samyang 50mm T1.5 AS UMC lens is covered in the UMC coating that reduces reflections. This is another “system” that is meant to raise the image quality by reducing optical flaws.

An 8-blade aperture completes the technical details of the lens. As stated above, the manufacturer recommends this optic for photographers and videographers with an affinity for close-ups.

For the time being, Samyang has not disclosed the price and release date of the new 50mm T1.5 lens. However, the availability details should become official at the Photokina 2014 event.
