Sony 90mm macro lens poised to be announced at Photokina 2014

Little is known about this product because the company has made tremendous efforts to keep its future plans a secret. However, some information will still be leaked within the rumor mill.

This is how it has been revealed that a Sony 90mm macro lens is the model on the FE-mount roadmap for the end of 2014.

The company will hold a press event on September 12 and another one on September 15, so this new optic will definitely be ready to grab lots of attention at this year’s Photokina.

At least two other lenses will be officialized by Sony at Photokina 2014. The development of both of them has been announced earlier this year, but the company has failed to give them proper launch events so far.

The optics in question are the Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm f/4 ZA OSS and the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS. The former is coming by the end of October, while the latter will be released in December 2014.

Both units come packed with Optical SteadyShot technology, making sure that camera or hand shakes will not affect the end results.

There is another possibility and it could consist of a Sony 85mm f/1.4 lens. FE-mount photographers are in desperate need of a prime lens with a very fast aperture and Photokina 2014 would be the perfect opportunity to meet their demands.
