Panasonic is rumored to have finally decided to introduce the elusive 35-100mm lens, a product which has been on-display at numerous events, but failed to show up on the market so far.

The Micro Four Thirds line-up may include a number of lenses, but there is always room for more. One of the optics which should have been announced a long time ago is the Panasonic 35-100mm.

Gossip talks are suggesting that its time has finally come, while revealing the maximum aperture of the product. In addition, the company is expected to launch a replacement for a prime lens and a superzoom compact camera.

Panasonic is already selling a 35-100mm lens, but it features a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 and it is considered a bit too expensive. The new f/3.5-5.6 model should fix this inconvenient.

Panasonic 35-100mm f/3.5-5.6 lens to be announced soon with under-$500 price tag

Nitpickers will say that the Micro Four Thirds format is not providing so many options in the telephoto department. This is why Olympus and Panasonic will be aiming to silence their critics at Photokina 2014 with a number of optics.

Among them we will find the Panasonic 35-100mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, which will offer a 35mm equivalent of 70-200mm.

This product has been displayed at various trade fair in multiple forms. However, the Japan-based manufacturer may have needed a lot of time to find the perfect formula and it seems like the f/3.5-5.6 version will be the one to make the cut.

The price of the lens will allegedly stand somewhere below $500, but keep in mind that this is a rumor and you should take it with a pinch of salt.

Panasonic might also reveal another Micro Four Thirds lens. No specifics have been given, but we may be facing the launch of a successor for a prime model.

Superzoom compact camera with 4K video recording set for Photokina 2014 unveiling

Another product, which has not been mentioned recently within the rumor mill, consists of a compact camera with a zoom lens. This is not a bridge-like unit, just a very compact one that should replace the TZ60 / ZS40, that is aimed at travel photographers.

The camera will feature a 1-inch-type sensor and a 9.1-146mm f/2.8-4 lens, which will offer a 35mm focal length equivalent of 25-400mm. This means that it will offer only 16x optical zoom, down from the 30x optical zoom provided by the TZ60 / ZS40.

This unnamed model will also employ a built-in 2.4-megapixel OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3-inch articulated LCD screen. Moreover, it will be able to capture 12fps in continuous shooting mode and videos at 4K resolution.

The cherry on the cake will be the built-in WiFi, so that users can remotely control their camera using a mobile device.

Panasonic will hold its special event on September 15, therefore make sure to come back to get the latest Photokina 2014 news next week!
