Canon 1Ds-X big-megapixel DSLR could be announced in October

Canon is rumored to announce a pro-level DSLR camera in New York City this October. The body is rumored to have a 46-megapixel image sensor and to be called 1Ds-X.

The much-anticipated launch of the Canon 7D Mark II finally occurred at Photokina 2014. The flagship EOS DSLR with an APS-C sensor comes with numerous improvements over its predecessor, but it has been the sole DSLR revealed by the company at this event.

It appears that the Japanese manufacturer might be saving even better news for later. Canon will allegedly enter the big-megapixel territory in October during a special event at the Javits Center in New York City.

The shooter is said to be called 1Ds-X and to be ready for the PhotoPlus Expo 2014 event taking place at the end of next month.

A 46-megapixel DSLR, called 1Ds-X, is rumored to be announced by Canon in October. The shooter could replace the current EOS flagship camera: the 1D X.

Canon to reveal its big-megapixel DSLR this October

These rumors are coming from a user who leaked these details at the FredMiranda forums, a place where lots of interesting and unreleased information is posted from time to time.

The company must not delay its big-megapixel for too long, as Nikon has already launched a follow-up to the D800 and D800E in the body of the D810. Moreover, the D750 is also official and some people would say that this is the true competitor to the 5D Mark III.

Regardless of the vantage point, most photographers agree that a Canon 1Ds-X with a big-megapixel sensor should be released on the market in the near future.

According to Psychic1, this device is on its way to the Javits Center in New York City. Its introduction is scheduled to take place in October at the PhotoPlus Expo 2014 trade fair.

46-megapixel Canon 1Ds-X to be priced around $8,000-$9,000

The specifications of the camera have not been revealed, but the sensor is said to be clocked in at 46 megapixels. It is unlikely that this is based on a multi-layered design, but it is too early to rule out any possibilities.

Canon’s 46-megapixel DSLR is said to be called 1Ds-X, as stated above. However, the name could change by the time the device becomes official, so these rumors always have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

The price of the camera will stand somewhere between $8,000 and $9,000, which would make it more expensive than the flagship 1D X, that is available for $6,799 at Amazon. Stay tuned, more information could be unearthed soon!
