A bunch of specifications and the price details of the Sony A7000 mirrorless camera have been leaked on the web ahead of its announcement, which could take place at CES 2015.

Sony will finally replace its flagship E-mount camera with an APS-C sensor at the beginning of 2015. The NEX-7 will be substituted by the so-called A7000, meaning that it will follow the same naming scheme as the A6000, which succeeded the NEX-6 in early 2014.

Recently, a source has revealed some details about the NEX-7 replacement, claiming that the mirrorless camera will be weathersealed and will be capable of recording videos at 4K resolution.

New Sony A7000 specs have just surfaced along with details about the price of the device. This will become a high-end shooter, but it will not be very expensive.

Sony is rumored to put the same electronic viewfinder found in the NEX-6 and NEX-7 into the upcoming A7000. The new camera will be announced at CES 2015 with a new sensor and focus system among others.

Sony A7000 specs list to include high-sensitivity image sensor and new focus system

A new image sensor will definitely be added into the A7000. The mirrorless camera will also employ a new focus system that consists of 246 Phase Detection points as well as 125 Contrast Detection points, which is an improvement over the 179-point focus system found in the A6000.

Getting back to the image sensor, Sony will put a lot of effort into increasing the ISO capabilities of the NEX-7 replacement. It appears that the A7000 will have a sensor capable of achieving exorbitant sensitivities, so it remains to be seen whether or not it will match the ones provided by the A7S .

The resolution has not been mentioned this time, but the previous source has said that it would stand at around 24 megapixels.

Flagship E-mount APS-C camera could have a smaller price than expected

On the back of the camera, users will find a touchscreen and a Tri Nav menu system, allowing photographers to easily navigate through the menu and to input the exposure settings among others.

Additionally, it appears that the Sony A7000 specs list will borrow something from its predecessors. The electronic viewfinder will be the same as the one found in the NEX-6 and NEX-7. This could be rather surprising as the A6000 viewfinder is newer and is said to be a lot better.

Either way, all of these features will be available for a price of $699. For the time being, the Sony A6000 is available for about $650 at Amazon, so the relatively low price of the A7000 will come as a pleasant surprise.

Launch event is allegedly scheduled for CES 2015

Sony will announce the A7000 at the next edition of the Consumer Electronics Show. The CES 2015 event is bound to take place in early January.

The mirrorless camera will be joined by a new Zeiss 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS lens, which will be weathersealed. The optic is said to be shorter in length, but wider in diameter, while offering the best image sharpness in its category.

The price of the new Zeiss 16-70mm lens will stand at $1,199, which is more expensive than the current version that can be bought at Amazon for about $1,000.
