Olympus will announce three compact cameras, called TG-860, TG-4, and SH-2, alongside the E-M5II mirrorless camera before CP+ 2015.
CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show 2015 will be one of the biggest digital imaging events of the year. It takes place in Yokohama, Japan starting February 12.
Since it is a major show, almost all digital imaging companies will be present and some of them will even reveal new products before the event’s beginning.
Olympus is one of them and the Japan-based manufacturer has already begun sending invitations to a special event scheduled for February 5.
Although the show will be focused on the OM-D E-M5II, it is very likely that the TG-860, TG-4, and SH-2 compact cameras will be unveiled, too, as they have just been spotted on Novocert’s website.
Olympus TG-860, TG-4, and SH-2 compact camera names show up on Novocert’s website
At the beginning of 2015, it was revealed that Olympus had registered a couple of compact cameras on the website of an Indonesian agency named Postel. This is the place where product makers must register their devices before releasing them on the market.
The TG-860 and SH-2 were believed to show up at CES 2015. However, trusted sources have said that these models are actually coming at CP+ 2015.
It appears that one more unit will join them and it consists of the TG-4. This model has appeared on Novocert’s website, which is Russia’s Postel-like agency, along with both the TG-860 and SH-2.
There are no rumored specs or price details. Nevertheless, we are expecting these cameras to show up in the near future, most likely on February 6.
Olympus’ new compact cameras are replacing three existing models
Back in late January 2014, Olympus introduced the Stylus Tough TG-850 iHS. It is a rugged compact camera that handles water, dust, freeze, and shocks among others.
By the looks of it, the Olympus TG-860 will be its replacement and it should offer only minor improvements over its predecessor.
Fast forward to late March 2014, the company announced the Stylus Tough TG-3 and Stylus SH-1. The former is another rugged model, while the latter is a stylish superzoom camera.
Olympus TG-4 and Olympus SH-2 will be their successors. Just like in the TG-860’s case, we should not expect major changes when compared to the older versions. Stay tuned for the official announcement!
