A trusted source is reporting that the total number of megapixels will actually stand at 53. However, the effective number will be 50.6, just like another source has already said.

The Canon 5Ds R will have an identical sensor and specs list as the 5Ds, the only exception being its anti-aliasing filter, which will not be present in the 5Ds R.

The DSLRs will capture full RAW files as well as 28-megapixel M-RAW and 12.4-megapixel S-RAW files. As initially reported, the 5Ds and 5Ds R will offer 1.3x and 1.6x crop modes.

The source says that the cameras will be compatible with CF cards and SD/SDHC/SDXC cards. Its power will come from a Dual DIGIC 6 image processor.

Considering the huge amount of megapixels, the cameras will be capable of capturing only 5fps in continuous shooting mode.

The Canon EOS 5Ds specs list will include a built-in optical viewfinder with 100% coverage and 0.71x magnification.

The autofocus system consists of 61 points, 41 of them being cross-type. It appears that the autofocus system will work even in -2EV conditions. Both the 5Ds and 5Ds R will come with EOS iSA technology, EOS iTR AF support, anti-flicker system, and a 150K-pixel RGB sensor.

Maximum ISO sensitivity can be extended to 12,800

The native ISO ranges between 100 and 6,400. However, the extended ISO will range between 50 and 12,800. The shutter speed will range between 30 seconds and 1/8000th of a second, while the flash X sync speed stands at 1/200th of a second.

Live View mode is supported on the 3.2-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD screen. It is unknown whether this is a touchscreen model or not.

Canon 5Ds and 5Ds R cameras will record full HD videos at 30fps and will offer time-lapse and bulb modes. The source says that a miniHDMI output port will be available along with an external microphone port.

The shooters will be compatible with LP-E6N / LP-E6 batteries. It seems like the total weight of the cameras will stand at 930 grams with the battery and media card included. Without them, they will weigh about 845 grams, while the cameras’ dimensions will stand at 152 x 116.4 x 76.4mm.
